Guest guest
Any advice for my son with the rotovirus? I am pretty sure this is what he has. We have been using homeopathic remedies (30c basic 36 remedy). He has the basic runny stool and vomiting. However, he doesn't seem to have a fever. He does have runny nose and lots of mucus in his chest (you can hear it when he coughs). I think he caught it in the gym daycare:( Any more recommendations? Also...what remedies would you give? I would like to see if they match up with what i have used. Thanks so much. jen c

Guest guest
yes, i have tried Arsenicum, Ipecac, and Ant Tart for their symtoms. It is just so hard for small children. jen c -- Re: rotovirus At 09:45 PM 5/13/2006 -0400, you wrote: >Any advice for my son with the rotovirus? I am pretty sure this is what he >has. Guest guest
Jen, Rotavirus has a STRONG and distinct smell to it. Like rotten eggs. It is helpful to know if that is what it is only so you can anticpate the duration, symptoms, etc. I wouldn't treat it at all. (unless the voliting is out of control) Just keep him hydrated. It lasts 5-8 days as I recall. Be diligent in handwashing though, so you or other family members do not get it. I nursed like crazy when my daughter had it this spring and she went back to pure breastmilk stools. By that time she was pretty much over it. Take care. Guest guest
To piggyback on that, our son contracted a rather nasty rotovirus last winter. We spent 6 days in the hospital, which was terrible, but could have been shortened if the respiratory techs had listened to us and administered breathing treatments. However, that is another story. From what the doctors told us, rotovirus is fairly uncommon at the severity our son had it, and could be avoided in most cases with good hygeine. Additionally, it typically passes within a few days, at least the extremely dangerous " shooting out of both ends " part. The only reason we went to the hospital is because we couldn't keep fluids down and our son hadn't urinated in over 6 hours. However, the average immunotypical child would not have reacted as strongly to that strain of the virus. Oddly enough, that episode kind of turned into a blessing because when we got out of the hospital we bumped up his probiotic to a teaspoon a day. When we did that his language and eye contact really took off. My point is simply that the cure is much more dangerous than the disease in this case. I don't see any way this vaccine would make sense on a balance sheet, assuming that balance sheet was accurate and not slanted. Guest guest
We had it go through our house. And let me say, I'm a handwashing nut. I wanna meet the kid with autism who understands good hygiene! I've been teaching my 8 yr old to wash her hands and keep her hands out of her <hmmm> for years. Doesn't work. All it takes is one unknown microscopic smear in one family location for an entire family. Sick, but true. We never had to go to the hospital, though I had wished I had died several times over. I remember waking up on the floor after I had passed out, I had crapped on myself while out, my 14 mo old toddled in, saw me down, lifted up my shirt, nursed for a second, then threw up on me while Allie was in another room puking. Was not a fun moment in our family history, esp when hubby walked in and saw the mayhem. ROFL. What a fun vision for us all? All that said, no way would I allow that vaccine in my blood or my children's. Debi > > To piggyback on that, our son contracted a rather nasty rotovirus last > winter.
