And an even more important motive behind the big " contagious

bird flu " scam is a political one, of the ruling persons' wanting

to terrorize people everywhere. Se for instance " UNITE! Infos "

#251en, #252en and #256en at my homepage. The CDC's

recent " dismissing " message (below) is just an enforced

(and phony) " retreat " after its own " pandemic " efforts have

gotten publicly exposed (above all by some people in Germany).

But those efforts are still " on " . There will be more " bird flu "

scare stories in the international mass media soon enough.

Couldn't agree with you more, Rolf. They did it with SARS, West Nile, Anthrax

etc.

They'll be charging the mosquitos next year with being carriers of the next

" pandemic " with a new name and set of numbers and letters. The whole thing has

become so predictable. It will be interesting to see where it goes next.

And when mosquitoes are identified as the " cause " of the disease, then

communities are mass sprayed with insecticides to control the mosquitoes.

In this state in some areas- spraying of whole neighborhoods/a sector of the

city occurs as often as once per week through the summer.

But as far as I understand, there actually IS a good reason to

combat mosquitoes with pesticides, namely in that they are

carrying some parasites - NOT bacteria or viruses - which are

causing malaria.

I haven't seen anything in that New Medicine theory either - which

I've concluded is correct, though I still am ignorant of many of its

details; homepage in English http://www.newmedicine.ca/ - that

would contradict this.

Now there since long is a campaign against, and a far-reaching

international ban against, that pesticide DDT, which formerly

was so successful (when applied sensibly, at least). It started

out with a book in 1962 by Carson: " Silent Spring " ; bans

were enacted from appr. 1972 on, with the US government taking

the initiative on this. The purported argument against DDT was/is

that it would harm the environment, making birds' eggs have

thinner shells etc.

But this apparently is a big scam too, most probably (I hold)

intended to have millions of people in Africa etc killed by malaria.

The cheap and effective DDT seems ti have no good replacement.

This is what's being argued by the website Africa Fighting Malaria

http://www.fightingmalaria.org/ for instance, and also by - the true

enough, capitalism-propagandistic but in several scientific respects

quite good website http://www.junkscience.com/ ( Milloy).

I too have written some things sharply opposing the ban against DDT.

A mistake? No, I don't think so. That pro-ban campaign very

clearly originates with those same people who are also orchestrating

the big " HIV/AIDS " and " contagious bird flu " scams.

Thus I strongly suspect that the website you're mentioning here,

Sandy, is making propaganda for something unfavourable to most

people.

This question/discussion about pesticides of course is somewhat off topic

here, but it's not bad, I believe, to have a couple of messages on/in

it posted here. I on my part won't go into any further discussion on

this on this list, but just want to say, with the above, that I believe

your'e wrong, Sandy, on one point concerning mosquitoes:

They (as far as I understand) ARE dangerous as carrying PARASITES,

though it would be wrong if some people " accused " them of carrying

" dangerous bacteria or viruses " (too).

Those things which you're mentioning, Anita, are what

those rather big experts the " klein-klein-aktion " people in

Germany, and some others too, have also been pointing at

as earlier big scams, as you're saying. I on my part have

read about that only rather recently.

No the info at Beyond Pesticides is not propoganda - you need to read more

about the ingredients in pesticides as well as the potential adverse health

effects. Go to pubmed and search if you have the time-while you are there

search organophosphate pesticides (and neurological, and asthma, and

parkinson's, and seizures, and dermatitis, and cancer, and autoimmune, and

birth defects). You will find tons. As for the folks at Beyond Pesticides,

they are a great bunch, totally legitimate, and have been a great help to me

on various projects the past 4 or 5 years.

And as far as controlling mosquitoes--The best approach is an integrated

mosquito management approach. Prevention is always the first choice i.e.

cleaning up standing water/breeding grounds (this involves educating

people). For water/breeding grounds that cannot be cleaned up--then

larvacide can be used to kill the mosquito larva (with a least toxic

larvacide such as Bti). Finally in a public health threat situation,

spraying may be warranted (but even in this regard all mosquito insecticides

are not created equal- some have a lower toxicity than others). And keep

in mind that in some areas, communities are routinely sprayed simply for

" nuisance " reasons in the absence of any declared public health threat.

If you are interested in this topic, I will once again recommend that you

read the great info at www.beyondpesticides.org. They have a whole section

on mosquito control.

I write the above with the knowledge that I have about mosquito management

in the state where I live here in the US. I have not studied mosquito

problems, diseases carried by mosquitoes, or methods of mosquito management

in Africa or any other country.

Thanks for the info, Sandy. I'm noting it for later study - above

all, of what arguments, if any, that site has against ( " sensible " ) DDT use,

which I'm advocating. As I wrote before, I won't go into the pesticides

questions here any more than I did last time, and these lines.

and my last comment- there are other insecticides on the market for mosquito

control that have been shown to be effective which are much less toxic than

DDT. If you are going to advocate the use of a pesticide for any pest

problem, please do your research and advocate the use of the least toxic

ones. As I said before, all pesticides are not created equal. This is

consistent with an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) approach. Thanks.

I shall look into this thing more closely, Sheri!

Meanwhile, it's fact of interest too, isn't it, that those

who have pushed very hard for a ban against DDT are

precisely the same who are also terrorizing people

with the big " HIV/AIDS " scam and the big " bird flu " scam -

the really big-time mass murdering leading politicians

in the USA and of some other " rich " states.

I think its the same people pushing DDT who are terrorizing people with

AIDS - opposite of what you say.

Here................

This is how you have to look at everything you read - who does it benefit!

WHO IS ROGER BATE - welllllllllll........you may be surprised

YOU HAVE TO LOOK at each and every news article this way

#####Africa Fighting Malaria

http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml/Africa_Fighting_Malaria

From Disinfopedia

Africa Fighting Malaria (AFN) is an NGO based in South Africa which:

* " seeks to educate people about the scourge of Malaria and the political

economy of malaria control. "

* Promotes the pesticide DDT as one of the most effective means of

fighting malaria.

* Asserts that global health organizations must be free to employ all

available tools to fight malaria and that the limited use of DDT for

spraying homes and hospitals is a powerful and necessary tool in this fight.

* Critics say AFN does not actually fight malaria, but is merely a

pressure group that lobbies for increased use of DDT.

AFN director Tren is also associated with many other organizations,

including the International Water Management Institute, the International

Policy Network, the Free Market Foundation in South Africa (where he

opposed tobacco control), and the Institute of Economic Affairs in London.

Tren also uses Africa Fighting Malaria as a platform for other

health-related free-market opinions. In particular, with Amir Attaran, he

has been vocal in attacking attempts (led by the Treatment Action Campaign)

to supply generic versions of AIDS drugs to South Africa, on the grounds

that this will stifle innovation.

Co-director Bate is also associated with the Institute of Economic

Affairs and is relatively notorious as the founding director of the

European Science and Environment Forum.

DDT is very effective at killing the insect vectors of malaria. Compared to

the harm caused by malaria, the mild harm caused by DDT (to humans) makes

the use of DDT reasonable in certain areas and climates. However, its

overuse for other purposes has contributed to the emergence of

DDT-resistant mosquitoes and has been shown to harm birds and other animal

populations, leading to bans on its use.

AFM ran a " Save Children From Malaria " campaign designed to prevent the

Stockholm Convention from banning the use of DDT. more at website

#####Co-director Bate is also associated with the Institute of

Economic Affairs and is relatively notorious as the founding director of

the European Science and Environment Forum.

Info on Bate

http://www.eco-imperialism.com/content/article.php3?id=93

European Science and Environment Forum

http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml/European_Science_and_Environment_Forum

" Like other " sound science " front groups, its real mission is to disparage

the science upon which environmental safety regulations are based. "

" They began as an attempt to create a European version of The Advancement

of Sound Science Coalition (TASSC), a front group created to assist the

Philip tobacco company in its fight against regulation of secondhand

cigarette smoke. "

Bate: Patent relaxation threatens Aids drugs

http://www.policynetwork.net/IPhealth/rethinking_the_debate_0701_batetren.htm

" The public sector and donor organisations in wealthy countries are

providing substantial funding for malaria research, especially for vaccine

development. In the past six months s Hopkins University received an

anonymous donation of $100 million dollars, and the Gates Foundation gave

at least $45 million to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

for vaccine and drug research . And these are not the only initiatives.

This is great news for basic research and is certainly welcome, but

breakthroughs in basic science will not lead to innovative new products

that are thoroughly tested without the right incentives being in place for

the companies that specialise in that part of the drug development process. "

" governments can change incentives for those better placed to transform

relatively untested chemicals into viable pharmaceuticals " ......

" tax breaks, guaranteed markets and prizes " ........... " strong product

patent protection and swift regulatory approval procedures " ......

" Even though AIDS is a major disaster, and solutions must be found

(although prevention may be the only solution for the foreseeable future),

it would be a greater disaster to remove the incentive for drug companies

to develop new drugs for AIDS and other diseases that primarily affect

people in poor countries. In short, patent protection is a necessary,

although not sufficient, condition to drive drug development. "

http://www.fightingmalaria.org/research.php?ID=24 & month=

American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research

Health Policy Outlook July - August 2004

The Real Obstacles to Sound Treatment of AIDS in Poor Countries.

Bate & Tren

Over 42 million people are suffering from HIV/AIDS. According to the Joint

United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), of the 27 million Africans who

are sick, fewer than 150,000 are receiving treatment. The causes of this

are myriad, but the lack of political will, infrastructure, trained staff,

and more generally lack of wealth are the prime causes of lack of treatment.

At the UNAIDS conference in Bangkok beginning July 12, aid and health

agencies must continue to promote methods of prevention of HIV/AIDS and

focus attention on how treatment can be improved, particularly for the

poorest victims. Over two years have been lost in wasted political effort

trying to weaken drug patents despite the fact that patents rarely hinder

access to drugs. Unless UNAIDS changes its focus to the real causes of lack

of treatment, millions more preventable deaths will occur in the coming

decade.

http://www.gmwatch.org/profile1.asp?PrId=168

" However, documents released by tobacco giant Philip show that ESEF

was established with money from the tobacco industry - solicited by Bate.

As Big Tobacco's European front organization, ESEF's task was to smuggle

tobacco advocacy into a larger bundle of 'sound science' issues, including

'restrictions on the use of biotechnology.' "

Advocates of GM food - " Amongst the ESEF's publications is Fearing Food:

Risk, Health and Environment, co-edited by Bate and n . The IEA

website comments: 'In the latest ESEF book, Fearing Food, new agricultural

and food technologies, including genetic engineering, are shown to be

generally beneficial both to health and to the environment.' "

" 'Both Bate, the ESEF and the IEA have had a dry run for their work on

tobacco. Bate came to fame as the author of an IEA book dismissing

the widespread scientific consensus on global warming " Global warming or

hot air? " . The ESEF also published a book of so-called sceptical science -

this was the work of a small group of scientists. The word 'sceptical'

dignifies something that was much more cynical. The aim was to create

controversy and deflect public policy measures to combat climate change -

something very similar appears to be happening with tobacco.' "

http://members.tripod.com/~ngin/rightwing.htm

Pro-GM scientists and the right

" A key contributor to each of the BBC programmes raising questions about

organic food has been n , the Director of the Environment and

Technology Programme of the far right think tank, the Institute of Economic

Affairs. One of the programmes ('Counterblast', broadcast on BBC 2 on 31

January 2000) was presented by Bate in his then role as the Director

of the European Science and Environment Forum (ESEF). "

One thing I certainly *have* known - for 30+ years: That you (not least)

need to look, concerning any expressed point of view: Whom does it¨

benefit?

A couple of other things however were new to me, when I looked

at some websites just now, beginning in a small way my " closer

look " at the DDT question:

1) Milloy, who in his " 100 things you should know about DDT " (1999)

http://www.junkscience.com/ddtfaq.htm

does refute (it since long seems to me) the arguments against DDT

advanced in Carson's 1962 book " Silent Spring " , has *no* mention

at all of those advanced by Jim West (quoting Morton S. Biskind, not least)

against it. Why is this? They should have been known to him in 1999.

A cover-up here by Milloy (who *is* good on *some* questions)?

2) Even more interesting: Jim West at that site you pointed to,

http://www.geocities.com/harpub/, not only says that your list,

the present one, is " indispensable " - I absolutely agree!; finding

it has been a piece of luck for me, I do think! - but also that

Stefan Lanka has written that his, Jim West's, website on Polio

and Pesticides is good and important.

A further argument, and a very strong one, I find, for my really

taking a rather thorough " closer look " at that DDT question.

(Since I do hold Stefan Lanka in very high regard concerning

matters of medicine and biology, in part concerning matters

of politics too.)

This will take me some time. But I shall get back on it!

I think its the same people pushing DDT who are terrorizing people with

AIDS - opposite of what you say.

Here................

This is how you have to look at everything you read - who does it benefit!

The aim was to create

controversy and deflect public policy measures to combat climate change -

something very similar appears to be happening with tobacco.' "

organic food has been n , the Director of the Environment and

Technology Programme of the far right think tank, the Institute of Economic

Affairs. One of the programmes ('Counterblast', broadcast on BBC 2 on 31

January 2000) was presented by Bate in his then role as the Director
