It's not IBS, it's my intestines not being able to heal themselves from the irritation probably due to poor wound healing, inflammation, or a bacterial/viral infections. The crazy and scary part of all this is that whenever my GI gets irritated, by taking a food that doesn't agree with me, my receding gums ache, and recede more. Sounds weird, but I see it happening and I have no idea what to do about it. Anyone have any ideas about my gums or my GI? Thanks, Cobi *****All those toxins are producing Free radical hence your receding gums. Flush out the toxins and then start to repair the damage and your situation will improve,. Guest guest
When my stomach used to get upset, my joints would ache and my head, too. I preusime it is an inflammatory response. Excellent way to heal; aloe vera jel or juice, and cabbage juice. CAbbage juice spoils really fast; have to make it a little at a time. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies, Unfortunately, I can't flush out the toxins, take aloe vera or cabbage juice, because it irritates my intestines. I'm in a catch 22. I need to find something very gentle. CS, I saw a post by you that you took genegel or gengigel for gums , how did that go? Guest guest
Have you tried a fast, just drinking water, and then a liquid diet of some kind of fruit or vegetable juice? Anyway, some kind of liquid diet, until you can start eating protein, should be the best way to heal your intestinal tract. Then your gums should improve, assuming it was the insult to your intestines that caused it. If you use Google or Pubmed, and try 'intestinal irritaion' or some- thing similar, you can probably find some good ideas. But common sense says to eat bland foods (bananas) or just drink liquids until you can add bland foods. But another critical supplement for gums in anyone over about 35 is CoQ10. About 100 mg/day in one of the gel or " Q-sorb " forms will do it. I seldom floss unless I've eaten ribs or something similar, and my hygienist is always going on about how great my gums were. (They were receding and getting bigger pockets before I started CoQ10.) As an added benefit, CoQ10 is wonderful for increasing mitochondrial energy, and most PWCs respond well to it. And CoQ10 also protects the heart. -- el (andreafrankel at sbcglobal dot net) " wake now! Discover that YOU are the song that the morning brings... Guest guest
I'm sorry I don't know much about IBS, but it might be a very useful to have a consult with a periodontist (a dentist who specializes in gum disease) regarding your receding gums. Definitely go if your gums bleed when flossing, brushing or during a regular dental cleaning. I have been under the care of a periodontist since my mid-twenties when my mother discovered she had gum disease and that the tendency is inherited. She had corrective surgery and did not lose her teeth until her eighties. I eventually had successful gum transplants and currently keep the disease in check as suggested below. Over the years I have learned that some of the most important things to do for receeding gums include: * Flossing daily (I know it's a drag - as they say, Just Do It! * Regular DEEP cleanings (I used to go 3 times a year). Definitely find a periodontal dental hygenist if you can. It may hurt until you get the gum disease under control, but the alternative could be to lose your teeth. * Use an electric toothbrush per the instructions. Since I have been using my SoniCare my hygenist and periodontist have both raved about how well I am doing. This past year my cleanings have been reduced from 3 times a year to twice a year. YEAH! * You need to be very gentle as you floss and also use a soft toothbrush. Abrasive brushing will definitely damage gums and cause more recession. It is not possible to recover lost gum tissue but you can probably prevent further recession if you work at it. Hopes this helps, Pam > > In a message dated 14/01/2007 17:00:29 GMT Standard Time, > > mintlilacs@ writes: > > > > Hi, > > A while back, I took horse radish juice for detoxing, and it > > wounded my intestines, I haven't been the same since.
