Guest guest
Hi Sue my naturopath says that 7 keto is better for woman than DHEA but he says that pregnenolone is even better for woman as it is mother of all steroid hormones including progesterone. he is advising to use up to 60 mg pregnenolone (depending on the level of adrenal exhaustion) and if that is not enough he advises some additional 7-keto. But I must say that I am also using adrenal cortex extract so I am not personally sure if that contributes to conversion of pregnenolone to dhea.I don't have much knowledge on this aspect of pregnenolone. if you wish to try pregnenolone and you are not cortex extracts than you may wish to try 5 mg for first couple of days and than increase the dosage to 10 mg for another couple of days. If you are being able to convert it you will notice immediate benefit even at first starting days. If you do not notice any benefits even after going up to 10 mg than that might mean that you are not being able to convert pregnenolone and you may wish to try 7-keto directly. I need to say that before taking dhea you need to be sure that you are low in dhea otherwise you may cause suppression. At some stage of adrenal exhaustion dhea may be high and you need to be sure that you are not at this stage. This is known by asi saliva test. Symptoms that i know are dry hair and skin. best wishes. Nil 7-Keto DHEA I was wondering if 7-Keto DHEA helps your adrenals as much as regular DHEA? I can't take regular DHEA, because I'm perimenopausal. Thanks for your help! This idea looks nice on the hormone pathway charts, but it rarely works out that way in practice in re supplementing pregnenolone or DHEA for women. Different genetics, metabolism, and other factors make for unpredictability. Try it and have the experience. I think it's useful to reinvent these wheels so you know with certainty how these substances act in your own body short term and long term. 60 mg pregnenolone is high though, consider starting at 10 mg and working it up or down. Likewise DHEA or 7Keto are both unpredictable in how they will act in the individual. Many women get facial hair, acne, and/or water retention, even in small amounts of 5 mg. The good news is these cycle out of the system in a day or two if the experiment goes south.
