I know most PWCs are women while I'm not of course, but am currently wondering if low estradiol status as I've tested for might be an important common nexus or connection between male autistic kids, adult female PWCs and adult male PWCs? In looking at some pubmed literature and a basic description of estradiol's function in the brain, it seems those who become low in it might have or be more susceptible to cognitive problems as happens in autism and CFS. _http://en.wikipediahttp://en.http://en_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estradiol) Estradiol is the most important of the estrogens and it actually has testosterone as an important precursor to our bodies making it whether male or female. This is interesting in that autism has for a while now been suspected of being testosterone mediated and neurodegenerative, but since testosterone in normal healthy individuals becomes estradiol in the brain why isn't estradiol status or lack of it also a central focus in what might be causing autism and CFS? What if the mechanism for transforming testosterone to estradiol starts off or later becomes faulty, inhibited or not so robust for autistics and PWCs? Your comments are welcomed. ********The inability to hold onto fat may be why estradiol levels are so low. Estradiol is made via aromatse enzymein fatty tissue. Guest guest
I wonder whether this has any bearing. I am Female have CFS (20yrs - well diagnosed) , severe PMS, and high testosterone. I wonder if theer is something missing is the testosterone - estradiol pathway? I can not tolerate any form of the pill/mini pill, I always get worse bloating and additional jaundice. CFS literate doc never been able to work it out. Guest guest
Hi, Jill. Severe symptoms of PMS could correlated to lowered gluathione levels as has been hypothesized may be happening in woman with CFS. And high testosterone could reflect lowered estradiol in a woman(Have you had your estradiol levels checked?). Estradiol is made by testostorone being aromatized. So, for some reason you may have suppression of aromatase or just don't make a healthy enough level of aromatase to produce the estradiol you need to have good brain function. jilldiprose@...> wrote: > > I wonder whether this has any bearing. > I am Female have CFS (20yrs - well diagnosed) , severe > PMS, and high testosterone. Guest guest
Many thanx for your thoughts . No I have not had estradiol levels checked - like everything with CFS it seems " other " things are too hard for the drs too. I've come to realise that everything (incl PMS (mg, cortisol, thyroid) probably comes back to glutathione!! After watching Cheney- I thank god he was given a new heart. I find it really interesting that Cheney is now speaker at the after dinner talk at the IACFS meeting and now also on the name change committee. I have never consulted with him, but have been at some american conferences and seen him cruise in and out. The person I know best is Bell and I think he respects still. Do you know any more. Klimas came to NZ and was so good - really stood up to some rhematalogists re: the graded exercise bullshit. She was good fun. Who is this guy?? best Jill --- davidhall2020 <david-hall@...> wrote: > Hi, Jill. > > > > Severe symptoms of PMS could correlated to lowered > gluathione levels as has been > hypothesized may be happening in woman with CFS. > And high testosterone could reflect > lowered estradiol in a woman(Have you had your > estradiol levels checked?). > > > > Estradiol is made by testostorone being aromatized. > So, for some reason you may have > suppression of aromatase or just don't make a > healthy enough level of aromatase to > produce the estradiol you need to have good brain > function. > > > > > > > > jilldiprose@...> wrote: > > > > I wonder whether this has any bearing. > > I am Female have CFS (20yrs - well diagnosed) , > severe > > PMS, and high testosterone. Both are respectable and respect each other in terms of CFS. > Klimas came to NZ and was so good - really stood > up to some rhematalogists re: the graded exercise > bullshit. Guest guest
Is this still the belief, that more women than men have CFS? I thought that was debunked as menopausal symptoms being mistaken as 'CFS'. > > > Klimas came to NZ and was so good - really stood > > up to some rhematalogists re: the graded exercise > > bullshit.
