Re:GABA and 5-HTP for help sleeping--mjh

I'm still trying to find the right combination of things to help me

get to sleep. I was wondering, if you wouldn't mind, how much of each

of those do you take? Are they all in pill form, or are some powder?

SAM-e has to be enteric coated, no option. Other amino acids can be

purchased as powders or capsules opened and added to fluids.

I started with 200 mg SAM-e in Oct 1999 and worked up to 1600 mg/day, stayed

at 1200 mg/day for a long while. Now need between 600 and 800 mg/day.

Empty stomach early in the day is a must. I've posted greater detail on this

list in the past.

GABA is a complex including about 400 mg of GABA.

l-Tryptophan on an empty stomach at bedtime, I started at 500 mg and worked

up,

And, of course, Magnesium!!! Some folks find _www.naturalcalm.net_

(http://www.naturalcalm.net) at bedtime helps increase the benefits of the

above.

Bright light early in the day and gentle exercise is also critical to sleep.
