Guest guest
Hi I was wondering if anyone else had the same reaction to undenatured whey (in my case ImmunoPro) as I do? I get mentally fuzzy or cloudy for a while. It usually wears off, but it makes me feel like curling up in bed until it passes. I assume it's something to do with the release of toxins or the movement of toxins....but I'd be interested in some input. Cheers Louella --------------------------------- Any questions? Guest guest
Hi, Louella. As more PWCs have been getting their genetic polymorphisms characterized by the Complete Basic SNP Panel 1 from http://www.testing4health.com, we are finding that quite a few have polymorphisms in their CBS (cystathionine beta synthase) and/or their SUOX (sulfite oxidase) enzymes. It appears that if a PWC is in this category in term of polymorphisms, nondenatured whey protein supplements can make them feel worse. I don't have enough data yet to conclude that this is the answer, but it looks that way. Dr. Yasko suggests that the reason is excessive generation of ammonia, sulfite, and/or hydrogen sulfide, all of which can produce symptoms. Another possibility is that there is probably a small amount of casein in the whey protein products, because the separation process is not perfect. Some people are allergic to casein. This is a major issue in autism, which I believe shares a lot of genetics and biochemistry with CFS. Neither the DAN! project or Dr. Yasko recommend use of whey protein products in autism for this reason. For a long time I was a major proponent of the use of nondenatured whey protein by PWCs. I know that it has helped quite a few, but I am also aware that many cannot tolerate it. In the past many of us thought that this was just a matter of time, and that the whey protein was producing a herxheimer (detox) reaction which would eventually pass if people just stuck with it, starting at a lower dosage and working up. In view of what I've learned over the past year or so, though, I no longer believe that nondenatured whey protein products can be used to advantage by all PWCs. Guest guest
Hi Rich, Does this also apply to the liposomal glutathione? Thanks, Kathy > > > > Hi > > I was wondering if anyone else had the same reaction to > undenatured whey (in my case ImmunoPro) as I do? > > > > I get mentally fuzzy or cloudy for a while.
