Guest guest
Yikes Ingrid? I am not sure what i would do. I would also be very disturbed by it. I guess you can just reach the people who are willing to listen and who are willing to do some research. Mona Desperate helping situation Hi all, I just wanted to share a helping situation I had yesterday with a breastfeeding mum. It left me shakey the whole evening and night. She asked what to do about her baby crying/screaming during immunization. The Health visitor did not think that she could bf him during the process and she noticed that they now use a larger needle and they get 2 jabs now, one in each thigh... I could not help but give her a few words of warning even though I am not allowed to do this as a bf counsellor. I so badly wanted to say " please don't do it " but I couldn't; she is not open to any suggestion and information about vaccination at all. I was sooooo upset because I can see them going through what I went through with my son, eczema, crying, arching back, refusing to feed etc. It felt like giving her permission to cross the road and know that she and her baby will get hit by traffic. A very strange feeling. I just had to let go of it eventually and leave it or my heart would break again and again. Maybe she will use the seed I planted and do some research. Why do people not take responsability for their life but let the government do it for them? I guess it is so much easier to just let someone else do the thinking for you instead of doing it yourself. They have got people right where they want them, haven't they? Love and peace to you all Ingrid (Scotland)
Guest guest
Hi Ingrid -- Even if you're allowed to discuss it., not everyone is ready for the message. Through the years I've had moms get up and leave when I've spoken about some of the dangers they're exposing their children to - cleaning chemicals, nitrates, toxins in personal care products, let alone meds and vaxs. I'm the messenger and I'm passionate about the message (and I offer statistics to back it up), but after that, it's all up to them. Years ago it would upset me, these days I sleep knowing I tried. Guest guest
It's true so many aren't ready for it- it's like they are in their " comfort zone " and not ready to venture outside that right now, having a false sense of security. With me, if the topic is brought up, I am honest and still understanding, and it's at least comforting in some form to know you've " planted the seed " that will hopefully get them to thinking, researching, questioning on their own. Guest guest
I just wanted to scream last week. I had to go to the health department to get a TB test for work (I do in home senior care). I was sitting in my chair near the intake desk and this family comes in. They sat down at the desk and start talking about the one girl who looked about 12. She had juvenile diabetes, epilepsy and asthma and they were there GETTING HER VACCINATED against something or other. I wanted to beat the mother over thehead for her ignorance and the nurses too! Good grief that girl will be lucky to see her 16th birthday. LaFay LaFay Halter Horses LaFayHalterHorses@... or mblafay@... Guest guest
don't think she is ignorant, maybe she just doesn't know better. Ummm...That's what ignorance is - lack of knowledge. I wasn't mad at her for not knowing, just frustrated at the lack of knowledge. I do not mean ignorance as a deroggatory term, I am ignorant about many many things. Guest guest
Hi, I have just recently discovered that we should not be vaccinating. I know that to those of you who have been on here for a while that may sound like ignorance, but I really don't believe that's what it is. We are raised a certain way and believe things to be done for all the right reasons. It's not until we start questioning that we see that we have other choices. Part of this is because we are a trusting society and can't believe that we would be told to put something in our kids that would be harmful. When you know better you do better. I do realize that is not true for everyone but it is true in my case. So the next time you see someone vaccinating there child who is already very sick don't think she is ignorant, maybe she just doesn't know better. Guest guest
Maybe I misunderstood how you meant it. However I do think that even if we think that others don't want to hear what we have to say about the issue we should still bring up the topic. I know that if I were getting my child vaccinated and someone came up to me and told me very kindly what I was doing, I may not want to hear it but I believe I would have gone home and done some research about the issue. I know that some would still make the choice to vaccinate. I have a really good friend that just had a baby about 4 wks ago and I have sent her some of the things I have read and I believe that she will probably still get her baby vaccinated. I don't understand it but I had to tell her. Some people honestly don't know any better and I do realize that other just don't care. I have learned a lot from this group. sorry for the misunderstanding, Re: Desperate helping situation > >
Guest guest
You are so right . We all didn't know better at one time. Thanks for reminding us! Guest guest
Hi Ingrid, I do feel for you. This subject came up several times for me during my time as a breastfeeding counsellor in the UK. Like you, I had the conflict with being a non-vaxing mum but not being able to say anything to advise them against it. The way I dealt with it was, when they asked what they could do to soothe/comfort their baby during vaccination, I said that I couldn't offer any suggestions because it was an issue I hadn't had to face. That usually led to them asking why not, at which point I would say that it was because I didn't vax. Some mums did ask for more information, at which point I would say that I was an alternative practitioner away from the b/f counselling and tell them as much as I could *with my practitioner's hat on*. ) I did make the point that I wasn't allowed to say anything of that nature as a b/f counsellor. But a few went away and found out more for themselves, and if they asked me, I always offered websites and books for them to follow up. It is hard, and it goes against the grain to do or say anything that gives the impression that you support the procedure, but as you say, you're not allowed to openly decry it. Love, light and peace, Sue " For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible. Guest guest
Hi all, thank you very much for your comments on this. I think you are all right to say what you said. I calmed myself down eventually and I do feel better having said something, will wait and see if this mum takes any of in on board. For many, it is like living in a bubble and you don't want this safe bubble to burst, it is to scary to venture out. It does take time and I thought I don't want to everwhelm this poor mum. But you know what she said to me? I don't want to loose another baby, I have lost one already ( she had a miscarrieage a few years ago)... My jaw dropped when she said that, I just wanted to scream and say " well, you are increasing your baby's chances of this happening if you vax... " but I didn't of course. I don't think I handled it very well, and I phoned her up later to appolagize for ranting too much and told her that I fully respected her choice and decision. But from now on, I will just say that I am not able to offer any advice or suggestions as I have no experience with this, just like one of you suggested, and thent this might open up a more productive dialogue.
