Guest guest
Is there a bill number and detailed info on this legislation? Jane <redhead60707@...> wrote: http://tinyurl.com/cw775 Democrats seek to repeal US vaccine liability law ReutersWednesday, February 15, 2006; 6:28 PM WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Congressional Democrats on Wednesday introduced legislation that would repeal a law that gives vaccine, drug and medical device makers broad protection against lawsuits in a public health or bioterror emergency. Democrats generally agree there should be some legal protections for certain vaccines but say the Republican version defined health emergency too broadly and did not compensate people who were injured. The liability provision, strongly favored by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, was added to a defense bill enacted in December. Democrats would have an uphill struggle trying to repeal it. Massachusetts Democrat Sen. Kennedy and 20 other House and Senate Democrats wrote a letter to Republican leaders saying, "The provision included in the bill is not limited to vaccines for pandemic flu or other major threats to the nation's health, but could instead be used to allow manufacturers of virtually any drug or vaccine to escape responsibility for gross negligence or even criminal acts." Guest guest
That's GOOD news, but I still find it amazing that Frist gets away with what he does! I am hoping that saner minds will prevail, and I am totally with you on this issue. Guest guest
Thanks for asking those questions, Jane; I would like that information as well. MA residents who want to show support for Sen, Kennedy, and also learn more about the Mercury Free Vaccine Coalition of MA, please e-mail me. The MFVC was instrumental in providing evidence and documentation to Rep.Brad Hill, and asking for him to introduce legislation in MA to ban thimerosal form vaccines. Rep, Hill did follow through, and we have had our first hearing on HB 3836, to ban Hg from vaccines. The Expert Panel of the MFVC, which testified at the hearing before the Joint Committee on Public Health on Dec. 14th.,consists of Dr. Deth, Dr. Ayoub, Mark Blaxill, Jerry Silbert, with consulting support form Dr. Boyd Haley Dr. Ed Yazbak and Special Needs Attorney Vanda Marie Khadem.. We would encourage all MA residents to become involved and learn more of what can be done on the grassroots level to promote the passage of this legislation. Please contact me for more information. Guest guest
But there are renegade republicans like Snowe, Chafee and McCain, who will probably go along with the Democrats. And other Republicans who won't want to have been associated with this, including the republican whose staffer has been talking to the press about his outrage over the entire episode. This is GREAT news and we have it in our power to make it happen.
