Guest guest
My daughter had constant sore throats. Then I had my daughter at the dentist last year for orthodontal work. Both the regular and ortho dentists said that cavities were often caused by Strep Mutans. When her teeth were cleaned out, the sore throats stopped. She also had a lot of homepathic tx done and a nosode for the DPT. She is making great progress. Rotten teeth down to the pulp is endemic in children with autism. I'll bet it has more to do with their over-burdened immune system that's been shot to hell. Flouride...? > Did I see a flouride article here a while back? Guest guest
Well, there's also VERY poor diet for this child. She lives with Grandma and is fed cookies for breakfast, frosting on the cake for lunch and mashed potatoes and gravy every night for dinner. I want to just take her away but, my mom has raised 5 kids and knows best...This makes me so angry. I know this is insensitive, but my mom tried to put me in my place or knowing better and I said why bother getting any work done on her teeth because you're still going to feed her junk and the adult teeth will come in and she will go through the same thing all over again. She has terribly soft teeth and was not breastfed. She was also vaxxed to the max so far. I want to scream out in pain for her. She also wheezes at times and has bad colds. Any flouride info. here? She wouldn't take any vax info. from me. Guest guest
Hi , My little guy with autism has advanced tooth decay too. I feel I was able to signifigantly strenthen his immune system fairly early as he showed signs of autism long before his 1st Birthday and was diagnosed by 16 mos. I attribute much of the decay to the sensory aspect of autism in that he has always been extremely defensive to oral input like toothbrushing or similiar techniques used by various speech pathologists to help desensitize him over the years. We also discovered pretty early on that he was hoarding food under his top lip over the front four teeth where the worst of the decay is. Do you think the DPT nosode improved her health? I gave Henry a complete vaccination nosode detox for 2 mos even though he wasn't vaxed; theory being my vaccinations could have a played a role in his autism. He did improve healthwise, but there were too many other things going on simultaneously as part of the " protocol " to know what was really responsible for the improvements; if anything. I'm so glad your daughter is progressing. :~) Anita JULIE GRIFFITHS <moppett1@...> wrote: My daughter had constant sore throats. Then I had my daughter at the dentist last year for orthodontal work. Guest guest
Anita, Are you on any of the autism lists, ie ( membership 6,000!!!), Abmd, Chelating Kids2 etc. If not, I would recommend you join them. Every day new parents join, describing regression right after a vaccine. There are some exceptions but generally it's one of the shots. Yes, I think the nosode did something. She's become more " compliant " ;-))and much easier to get along with. Incidentally the German doctor who gave it told me it was illegal in Germany to do this. Guest guest
Thanks for the referrel , but Henry is an unvaccinated autistic child who was diagnosed very early as opposed to after regression. I would love to join a group for unvaxed autistic children though...if you ever hear of one. Guest guest
I would avoid the fluoride. If you reasearch you will see that we have WAY TOO MUCH fluoride in products and water in America and I'm sure UK and Canada as well. Three of my children and I all have hypothyroid disease which they now attribute to fluoride. Fluoride has also been linked to anger problems, emotional disorders, immune dysfunction...the list goes on. I bet Sherri knows about this issue. Guest guest
Yes , I am in the US. To avoid confrontation with the hospital staff, my husband and I made it clear to all on the maternity ward not to vaccinate him as he would be getting it at his first well baby visit. They seemed cool with it, but you never know. I really do have to check into it -- and the then there's the neonatal unit at another hospital he was rushed to at three days old because they thought he aspirated my breast milk after a coughing episode. It was there he was mainlined with 2 types of iv a/b's that I think are the culprits with his autism. Who knows? Guest guest
Anita, Here is another theory on autism which I happen to subscribe to. Organophosphates destroy the enzyme responsible for breaking down acetylcholine; it also destroys glutamine in the gut which in turn will decrease ability to absorb nutrients. Vaccines then come along on top. It's difficult to separate them in view of establishing causality. role of OPs in autism, asthma and allergies Dr Shattock I came into the debate about organophosphates via the autism route, and I will show you the elements which bring the two together. These are the latest figures for autism in California. As you see the levels continue steadily until 1985/1986, and since 1994 there has been a 273 per cent increase. That is the trend in every state in the USA now. This UK study in the North Thames region was designed to prove conclusively that the MMR triple vaccine had nothing to do with the causation of autism. The combined vaccine came in in 1988 (and the children vaccinated with it were born in 1987, 86, 85, 84), just about when the levels of autism go up. So how the study proves no causal link beats me. There is an increased incidence in autism and many other disorders, including dyslexia, attention deficit, with or without hyperactivity, Aspergers syndrome. An increased incidence it's not just genetic: there must be environmental factors. Of course, there may be genetic fragility, but other factors must be considered. I have made a list of diseases which appeared then died down again over the last two hundred years or so. Smallpox was never the big killer it was supposed to be in the middle ages. But it appeared in conditions in which people were crowded together, and the vaccine was credited with getting rid of it. Polio didn't exist 120 years ago: then children started to get infantile paralysis at the beginning of the century; measles, TB, fevers, deficiency diseases (e.g. coeliac disease). Coeliac disease used to kill children then the underlying cause - allergy to wheat - was discovered. There are other disorders which have appeared relatively recently. Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), colitis; Crohn's disease was so rare in children until recently that if a case appeared a paper would be written about it. Asthma is more common than it used to be, interestingly more so in rural arease than urban. One school of thought has suggested that some of the symptoms of autism are very similar to the symptoms produced by people on opiates long-term, morphine-like compounds. We all produce our own opiates (e.g. endorphins and enkephlins), but they are in foods as well. When we digest milk, when we digest wheat, we produce morphine-like compounds - peptides such as caso-morphins or glutamorphines in the case of wheat. We have found these in the urine of children of autism, and the Americans and others have also started to find them (Karl Reichelt in Norway, Cade of the University of Florida) saying yes we've got these peptides in the urine of children with autism. These are short chains of amino-acids causing morphine-like activity. For twenty years we have been looking at the urine of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders to find this, and we have now done well over 4,000 in our current series. Urinary analyses using HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) show that the biologically active peptides come out of the urine between twenty to thirty minutes in our system. In this analysis (of my own sample) there is not much there, which was a great relief to me! But the sample from my son, who is autistic, has a very different profile: much higher levels of compounds where the opioid peptides move - biologically active peptides come out: these were in his urine. After a while we noticed that one particular compound occurred a lot: IAG (trans-Indolyl-Acryloyl Glycine). This is not a peptide, but it showed up in our system. In fact about 80 per cent of people with autism have high levels of IAG. It is probably an abnormal metabolite of the amino-acid tryptophan. Most people with autism have high levels, but a proportion have low levels, and you also get people who are asymptomatic who have high levels: we estimate 20 to 25 per cent, and the Americans have now replicated this and calculated 23 per cent. These people are probably Newcastle United supporters, or something equally perverted! The Gulf War Veterans also have high levels. Of the 20 per cent of people with autism who do not have high levels, the vast majority of parents are convinced that their children's autism was caused in whole or by part by vaccines. These children have high levels of peptides but they do not have high levels of IAG, and their clinical appearance is slightly different as well. To summarise our theory: when people digest food, big proteins are broken down into peptides. A small amount passes into the blood and into the brain, which does not cause a problem. Supposing the enzymes in the intestines are not working properly, hence more peptides are formed and by mass action more peptides will get through the gut into the Central nervous System (CNS). If the intestines are permeable, because of IAG, because of sulpher-transferase or because when you were between thirteen and fifteen months old someone injected you with a mixture of attenuated strains of mild childhood diseases, Measles could become established in the intestines, they become leaky and suddenly peptides could start flooding through and creating problems. This has been found recently at the Royal Free Hospital (i.e. lymphoid nodular hyperplasia), great nodules hanging down into the intestine. They have isolated elements, and it looks suspiciously as though they have measles particles in them: not feral measles, these a What would happen if the blood brain barrier was leaking - because of our compound again, IAG, or because of a disease like encephalitis or meningitis, then more of these peptides will get through. When I was watching a television report about the Gulf War Vets I realised that the problems are the same: psychological executive function abnormalities. And without wishing to be offensive to the Vets, you know when you are talking to them on the phone: there is a delay between thought and speech, and they can become angry and aggressive. So we to analyse the urine of Gulf War Vets and found high levels of IAG, but not much else. This is the characteristic pattern of people with Asperger's syndrome (Rain Man - higher end of the spectrum), or dyslexia. We have now done 34 samples, all but two have high levels of that substance - Malcolm has said 95 per cent - and the other two have some levels of IAG as well. So these guys, ready to die for their country, went to the Gulf, had their NAPS (Pyridistigmine Bromide) tablets, they were covered in insecticide and were vaccinated with a series of things in the same day, or very shortly afterwards. We do not know what they were vaccinated against, because the records have been lost. The Americans' system is to divide the records into two, so that if one gets lost there is still the second copy. Unfortunately, in this case, both sets of American records have been lost. We do know that anthrax and plague, and whooping cough, were among them. Now we should look at what we do to babies, what Americans, in particular, do to babies. In the USA, the day you are born you receive a hepatitis B shot. This disease is spread by sexual contact, so one day old seems a little early to take that precaution. By the end of the baby's first year, it has been vaccinated against ten diseases. You will recognise this diagram of the biosynthetic pathway in phenylketonuria (PKU); Children are tested for a particular enzyme (via the Gutherie Heel Prick test) as a baby, if this enzyme is not working then the amino-acid phenylalanine is not converted to tyrosine, producing a host of extremely toxic compounds. This was the commonest cause of mental retardation until comparatively recently. Tryptophan is the next amino acid up the system. Tryptophan is normally converted to one of the main neurotransmitters, serotonin or to Kynuerinine - it is a very obscure route to IAG. It is the only known route to the formation of IAG. So for some reason, children with autism and Gulf War Vets (we have not had enough OP exposed sheep-farmers to look at), are not converting it. We are checking out whether IAG does anything. Its only known precursor is indole acrylic acid (IAcrA), and that is nasty stuff. It is a very reactive flat plannar molecule and we consulted Malcolm Hooper. We think it is getting into membranes, which although they consist of fats (triglycerides - three fatty acids) if they are leaky it would explain why things are getting through. Some people have this for genetic reasons, such as PKU and Hartnup's disease but are there environmental factors which do this? Is there 20 per cent of the population which have high levels anyway? We know that organophosphate pesticides block enzyme activity, that's how they kill. We also know that Hawaiian researchers have shown that there are abnormal compounds formed as a result of blocked enzyme activity (in the case of tryptophan, one of the main enzymes converting tryptophan to serotonin, typtophan hyroxylase, is blocked) and OPs do it. We think that the gradually increase of OP pesticides in the environment that has occurred are causing problems. If the gut wall is being damaged this way, what about the lining of the mouth and the nose? They too are going to become more permeable and things are going to get through, such as bits of protein, and we are going to become allergic to them. Asthma is going to get more common, which it has, especially in rural areas, where OP exposure from agricultural use is more common. Who had heard of peanut allergy 25 years ago? OPs may have played a part in mad cow disease: cows have been eating ground up sheep since the 1920s, and it wasn't a problem. When we switched from organochlorines to OPs, the prions which were in the sheep could get through the intestinal wall, and into the brain. In 1979-82 we switched to OPs, in 1984 or so we started to get mad cow disease. When we looked at the protocol Malcolm Hooper had drawn up to look at the Gulf War Vets - we hadn't corresponded at all - we found commonality with what we were doing in autism. Pull out the casein and gluten first and then have a look at what is going on underneath. We are developing the protocol for a diet based on our work (the 'Sunderland Diet'!), and are in the process of producing a book which will be available by May. Guest guest
You're welcome, Anita. I didn't mean to sound pushy, but after my kids body temps were around 90 and 92 degrees waking and never reaching above 95 during the day it took a while to find out the reason was hypothyroid. Actually mosts doctors will tell you most people run low in temp, but that is probably fluoride toxicity indication. It makes me frustrated to know how many times my kids have had fluoride treatments at the dentist because we think it for their best interest... Guest guest
Anita, because of the low body temp. That is the primary indicator that something is not right. Seizures can be a result of that as well. Which was an issue with us. Actually my doctor had me keeping a record of my temps throught out the day and without my knowing my kids did their own record and their temps were far lower than mine. I was horrified to see a waking temp or 90 degrees. So was the doctor. One son grew two feet within months of starting thyroid treatment. The other got thinner.... I definitely got more energy. But yes, body temp that is below 98.6 degrees is NOT NORMAL or HEALTHY. even though you hear all the time that it is common. Guest guest
I learn something new every day. My ASD son was diagnosed with " weak enamel " and had to have two fillings and a crown at age 2, although we take very good care of his teeth even though it is difficult. His top teeth just don't seem to be able to resist anything. I had no idea these dental problems were common to spectrum kids. We use a ped dentist with a mercury-free practice, but I still don't feel great about the dental work. B. > > Hi , > > My little guy with autism has advanced tooth decay too. Guest guest
I have yet to bring Henry to a dentist. I don't think either one of us can cope with the " stress trauma " and the " drugs " needed to get in there. They call themselves " specially trained " , but it all boils down to the same thing. How are they going to convince a non-verbal, nearly five, very strong and easily stressed autistic boy to open his mouth. It ain't happening without the " big guns " and I'll have no part of it unless absolutely necessary. Anita " B. " <llp33@...> wrote: I learn something new every day. Guest guest
I have a 6 year old who has never had strep throat and is on a low sugar diet (basically he only gets sweets on holidays/birthdays). He has only had soft drinks a couple of times and does not like them. He does not like chocolate. I was told by my mom that I had strep throat alot as a child (my tonsils and adenoids were subsequently removed). We were fed sweets 3 times a day every day when we were growing up. Guest guest
just curious --- how are you treating the thyroid disease? You can email me off list. Thanks. Sandy srippetoe@... Guest guest
Thanks for explaining. I really didn't know and believed a little below normal temp was fine. Guest guest
I've read that if the mother has mercury fillings that the mercury poisoning can come through breastmilk and enter and cause various issues with regards to a baby's health. Rotten teeth being one of them. Mercury is in so many different things that we have no hope of ever eradicating it. Can someone update me on the chelation process that I have read with regard to mercury though? JanLucy > >> My daughter had constant sore throats.
