Guest guest
Hi Sheri. I got in trouble today. The school nurse called and asked why Kali's grape juice was gritty on the bottom and why it was sent opened already. I told her that K wouldn't take her c this morning so, I sent it to school with her so that she is getting some at least sometime today. That is a big no-no here I guess. Without a Dr. script of how much of what and when to give, I cannot send it to school. I can't wait for K's nutritional analysis results and I hope that this Dr. can give her what she needs nutritionally for school and such. I will keep plugging away at home doing what we've been doing for her for the last couple of weeks. Before this, there were 2 long very sick years for this child with no nutritional interventions except for scd 8 months ago. Prevention is the best medicine and I will continue to do what is best for my girlie even if I have to go to school myself to make sure she gets it. Guest guest
What kind of doctor did you take your daughter to for nutritional analysis? I think we may need some kind of counseling but I don't think the ped. is what we need. She may have sensitivities and she is also a picky eater and I'd like to get her straightened out. Thanks, Carren > > Hi Sheri. I got in trouble today. The school nurse called and asked why Kali's grape juice was gritty on the bottom and why it was sent opened already. Guest guest
I had to take her to a ped. GI Dr. Not just any ped. GI Dr. though. We waited on a waiting list for almost a year to see Dr. Buie from Massechusettes. Kali had some blood tests, nutritional analysis, scopes etc. Kali was very lucky to be able to get this appt. One can get an appt. with him through one of the other Dr.'s working in the Mass. General office. The child must see one of these Dr.'s first. It was extremely difficult. Dr. Buie is right on as far as Autism and symptoms of the GI disease. He has spoken at the autism conferences etc. We had to go to LADDERS to see him. And then to Newton-Wellesley for the testing. If you have anymore questions please feel free to contact me again. Feb. 1 we will be getting test results back. Guest guest
Yes. Thanks Sheri. I will try to focus on those 3 times during the day to give it to her myself. I give her the CLO at that same time also and her yogurt just once in the aternoon. I didn't realize it would be such a problem....No wonder I never made it past nurse aide in school....You're the first nurse that has listened and helped. Guest guest
Oh for goodness sake! I use metal juice containers in my girl's lunch boxes at school. When I send juice, I always put a pinch or more of sodium ascorbate. With the rattling around they get in the metal lunch boxes, I'm sure it gets stirred up pretty good. L. Guest guest
Hi Jenn -- I had to laugh -- I've sent my kids with ground alfalfa sprinkled on their peanut butter sandwiches -- they looked more green than peanut color -- but no one ever asked -- and I certainly never volunteered what I was doing. And my kids just thought that's what peanut butter and jelly is supposed to look like. :-) Keep up the good work, I'm sure your daughter is benefitting. Guest guest
Yes. Well, the school nurse was making comments about the dark circles around K's eyes last week also. Maybe she was trying to find out if I give my child drugs. I asked her if she wanted Kali to get sick again. It's only vitamin c. She has been riding me ever since I gave her k's vaccine exemption at the beginning of the school year. This is quite a new concept for her, the school, this area, and her ped. I really dislike SOME RN's:). Guest guest
Hi Jenn - Hopefully the school RN will come around -- I work with several RN's (2 that are school nurses) that feel that better nutrition and supplementation are the key to healthier kids and families, and that prevention beats treatment every time. As for the dark circles -- aside from when we're sick, they're common signs of allergy, and anemia. Guest guest
Thanks for the support . I do fear k has anemia. She will never eat any veggies at all unless I mask them in pb brownies. Which she will only eat a couple of times a week. Kali also has allergies. I've tried the veggies all different ways. She will eat carrots and celery, apples, raisins and watermelon but only 2-3 a week out of these. She gags so bad she actually throws up. Her ped. gi said that she had rdness and inflammation from what he could see in her esophagus when he did the scopes. I am so worried about her and am actually researching now for a vegetable supplement for her. What other choices do I have right now? She will not eat soup, pureed or cooked fruits or veggies or any food mixed with another. She was just on a chicken eating binge for 2 months straight everyday but, not much of anything else. I was glad to see her eating at all. Hoping to find some gut healing tips that are worthwhile adding to the probiotics and scd. And with K's PICA problem which has been really bad for the last 3 days, she is getting paper and other stuff too. Hoping and praying for a healing miracle! Guest guest
I am not going to get K tested for allergies any further. She has suffered enough. I do believe in whole body healing and HP. I strongly agree that HP is going to be the end-all treatment for K. I would like some more articles on anything you want to send me. I will send them in to school also. I have done this before and some of them encourage it. Thanks. Guest guest
May I suggest you have a look at Merocla's site - talks about too much iron as well, since your daughter isn't eating much fruit/veg, I am asumming she's eating meat?? http://www.mercola.com/2003/jun/7/iron_deficiency.htm ..... I also read something else recently about this... thyroid, gagging or something, but can't for the life of me remember where it is..... Another suggestion may be to see a Chiropractor, as the spine/neck may be out of alignment. I know that sometimes I feel like I am about to choke/gag and after an adjustment have recovered from it. I can actually feel that thing in the back of my throat move, which induces me to cough/gag and them I'm fine afterwards. Just a thought. Also, you might like to check out Mercola's site (he's a Chiro as well BTW) for other ways of getting your daughter's fruit/vege supplement met. This must be really worrying you. Guest guest
, I do actually fear for K. She is definitely growing taller but, I can see her ribs so clearly. She eats a tremendous amt. of meat everyday. Maybe 7 chicken thighs as far as her meat goes. She does weigh 50 lbs. now though. I'm sure weight alone cannot be a clear marker for health. I will take some time to look some of this stuff up today. Thank you so very much for this info. Guest guest
Jenn -- I went for allergy testing as a teen, back then they injected the serum under your skin to see if you reacted. Then I suffered through years of " treatments. " The only thing that really worked was avoiding/eliminating the allergan -- difficult to do when it's things like grass and trees, but it did help with foods, pets, etc. But what worked best for me was eating better and building my immune system (while avoiding the worst allergans) but at least now I can enjoy the great outdoors and a lot of foods that were on the do not eat list. :-) Health & blessings, Project MAHMA -- Moms At Home Making A difference... and a lot of money! http://www.ExcitingHealth.CreateMyFuture.com http://www.Shaklee.net/ExcitingHealth 1-866-312-8064
