Guest guest
I just saw a commercial by Eli Lilly telling people that depression doesn't just hurt mentally and emotionally, but physically as well. They mentioned something called neopenephrine (I think thats how it's spelled) as well as serotonin as being the causes for depression and the aches and pains that come with it. Very convincing to the untrained eye. Very scary. Any body see this one yet? Anita --------------------------------- Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. Guest guest
Yes, is it the one where the kids are in the background looking sad and scared when they look at their mother? Pitiful... Just lob another drug at 'em. That'll take care of it! <sigh> Kay RE: Depression Hurts I just saw a commercial by Eli Lilly telling people that depression doesn't just hurt mentally and emotionally, but physically as well. Guest guest
I have seen that ad...I believe that depression can physically hurt. And it is true about chemicals in the brain not working correctly that could be the cause of depression.Last year I took an online course about memory and the brain and all the other functions.Things in the brain have to work correctly and these things about seretoinin have been studied and found to be true.I think if more people understood about " how " the brain works, they would be better off. Most people are not aware of what goes on in the brain and don't give it a second thought, but it is quite astonishing what all has to take place in order for us to function correctly. Guest guest
I can verify that depression can hurt! Not always but yes it can get that bad. I'm not totally bought on the brain chemical thing though, well lets just say that regardless of that I think nutrition can play a huge role in any mental illness and I think there have been enough studies done to prove it. However I had my depression treated by a homeopath and it worked wonders! I have been ridiculously happy almost ever since! (It took 2- 3 months for the treatment to take effect.) I can't stress the happyness point enough, lol!!!! - this was after 17 years of (untreated) depression. ~ Jowanna. > > I have seen that ad...I believe that depression can physically hurt. And it > is true about chemicals in the brain not working correctly that could be the > cause of depression.Last year I took an online course about memory and the > brain and all the other functions.Things in the brain have to work correctly > and these things about seretoinin have been studied and found to be true.I > think if more people understood about " how " the brain works, they would be > better off. Most people are not aware of what goes on in the brain and don't > give it a second thought, but it is quite astonishing what all has to take > place in order for us to function correctly. > > RE: Depression Hurts > > > >I just saw a commercial by Eli Lilly telling people that depression doesn't > >just hurt mentally and emotionally, but physically as well. Guest guest
Hi , There is no question that *real* depression exists or about what causes it. It's the treatment methods being offered that are disturbing and can often lead to more problems that will inevitably require more drugs............and so on. Guest guest
Hi Jowanna, I'm trying to convince a dear friend who struggles with depression to try homeopathy. He claims he can't afford it and though that may be true , he certainly can no longer afford to go on like this with many missed unpaid days of work. So what if the health center gave him a free months supply of anti-depressants; they are only making him sick to his stomach. Maybe if I show him what you wrote, it will be encouraging enough to help him take the next step. Anita Jowanna <aussiepunkshocker@...> wrote: I can verify that depression can hurt! Guest guest
Absolutely, . It's all part of the chronic disease picture we all carry around. When we inherited genetic weaknesses that predispose us to certain diseases, then add a lifetime of suppressive drugs to that, it's no wonder there are so many depressed people these days. As dis-ease moves deeper into our bodies (as a result of suppressive treatments, vaccines, etc.) we are affected on deeper levels, and eventually our mental/emotional state is compromised. Adding drugs to the picture only makes things worse. It's a vicious cycle. Homeopathy can restore that balance that is leading to the chemical deficiencies in the brain. Homeopathy has helped my depression tremendously. I sure wish I had known about it 20+ years ago! Here is a great link to info about depression and homeopathy: http://www.drluc.com/depression.html Kay Re: RE: Depression Hurts I have seen that ad...I believe that depression can physically hurt. Guest guest
A lot of this depression, including the aches and pains, is due to hypothyroidism and/or underactive adrenals. Many of these people are being treated with synthetic T4 replacement therapy, but i does not work for everyone, and does not treat all the symptoms. Guest guest
Last February (Valentine's Day to be exact) I fell into a deep depression. I could barely leave my house for crying. It was horrible. I've had bouts of depression before and it's in my genetic makeup, so I knew what I was facing. I was through with the drugs, etc... I decided that enough was enough. I went to an accupuncturist and I can tell you that from just ONE visit I was able to face the next day without crying. It was wonderful. That very same week I found this group and started learning about homeopathy. The accupuncture got too expensive but I can vouch for the fact that it pulled me out of the abyss and got me where I could make rational decisions about my healthcare. Now I'm doing homeopathy and I do feel like I'm on much more of an even keel. Sheri B. Jowanna <aussiepunkshocker@...> wrote: I can verify that depression can hurt! Guest guest
Hi -- I was on synthroid for 13 years (+, -), been off for 6 years! Can't say I ever had the depression issue, but I had many of the other hypothyroid symptoms, weight gain (in my case rapid), tired all the time, hair falling out, constantly cold, etc. The synthroid did " work " for me, but I was never comfortable about taking it for the rest of my life -- and then when the studies came out linking synthroid to osteoporosis, I was even more determined to get off the meds. Now I watch what I eat, making sure I take in enough iodine (I'm convinced that lack of iodine and a poor diet created my thyroid problem.) Health & blessings, Creating Healthier Lives... Guest guest
After my third child, I was unusually tired, losing hair, brittle nails and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and went on synthroid. I was convinced and had read that it could have been pregnancy related, but the doc's had me on the long term plan. Six months later, after feeling better, I stopped taking the drug. My thyroid tested normal and has been ever since. That was nearly five years ago. Other than the year after learning my sweet child was autistic, I have never been truely depressed. Even then, I think it was more grief than depression. I had to grieve the child I thought I gave birth to; the child I would have to work so hard with to know. No drugs required. Thank God. Guest guest
I hope so - it was worth every cent in the long run! Although I had to pay $40 a time for two consultations my actual " treatment " only cost a total of $12 (2 x $6 for two seperate remedies). I actually went to the Homeopath for eczema which disapeared by the end of the next day! Anti-depressants are nasty, so I hope you manage to talk him round! ~ Jowanna. > > > > I have seen that ad...I believe that depression can physically > hurt. And it > > is true about chemicals in the brain not working correctly that > could be the > > cause of depression.Last year I took an online course about memory > and the > > brain and all the other functions.Things in the brain have to work > correctly > > and these things about seretoinin have been studied and found to be > true.I > > think if more people understood about " how " the brain works, they > would be > > better off. Most people are not aware of what goes on in the brain > and don't > > give it a second thought, but it is quite astonishing what all has > to take > > place in order for us to function correctly. > > > > RE: Depression Hurts > > > > > > >I just saw a commercial by Eli Lilly telling people that > depression doesn't > > >just hurt mentally and emotionally, but physically as well.
