At the time I made that decision, that was what I was most comfortable with. With my third, I felt more experienced and educated and declined all of them. I just wanted to pipe in that if you do decide to do measles, to ask your doctor for the monovalent version of it. I am getting mixed feedback over if I can seperate these shots. Did your second child get mumps or rubella? Do you think they had any side effects? What exactly is a monovalent version? I started telling people but when they went to the doctor they were told it was no longer made. I read up on it and found they had a shortage and they were going to focus on other vaccines. I then heard rumors of other people being able to get them again. I don't have any proof of that, by the way. I know when I did the research I went out to the vaccine maker websites to look at their products. He has never gotten the mumps/rubella shots. At the time, I was not even sure I wanted him to have the measles vaccine, but I did not have the same feeling of it being a useless shot like I did mumps/rubella. Now, the disease I fear is pertussis. I don't fear measles anymore. The thing to do is to read as much as you can (I sent much) to show that measles is NOT the fearful disease that they lead you to believe it is. Hi Jen, the reasons for me refusing the MMR and any other vaccine is because I now know that Measles, Mumps and Rubella are not the killer diseases your doctor makes you believe they are; I now know that they are important for the child's immune system and how to deal with them when my son gets them. Autism is not really the reason any more, but of course, it did influence my decision. Information will help you loose your fear and deal with illness in a calm way. I stopped all my working and just sat at home and fed her as much as I could, and pumped in between, trying to make my body think it needed to produce more and I got NOTHING. It was so frustrating. I worked at it for 3-4 weeks and then gave up. I was so exhausted and had to get back to work. In the end, though, it was me that had to make this choice. Had my child contracted and then died of pertussis, I would have never held this egroup responsible. That's because I educated myself to the point where I truly believed in the dangers of the vaccines. Yet, the efficacy of the vaccine is low, and the side effects are high. That vaccine seems to linked to high fevers/seizures/SIDS. Guest guest Posted November 12, 2005 Report Share Posted November 12, 2005 At about 3 months your body starts to regulate your production so you don't always feel the let down or get engorged like in the beginning and you stop leaking so much. Of course, everyone is an individual so this isn't set in stone I tried pumping before and got nothing at all, my daughter is an expert at getting it out though. That is also about the same time they get better so they nurse for shorter amounts of time. I think she has to be the judge, if she is swallowing, going to the bathroom, seems to be satiated, then things are probably ok. As far as drying up, I had a friend who weaned her daughter at 12 months, the baby got sick a month later and wouldn't eat or drink so she offered her the breast out of desperation (which was the only thing she would take) and she continued to nurse her until she was 18 months. All of us three kids also had the shot. (along with every other shot my mom could get us without my dad finding out!) I was too young to remember it, but we all came through fine.
