Guest guest
I can understand well how you feel, I had similar feelings at the same time, when my son was your son's age and I had to make a decision about MMR. Fortunatly my friend provided me with lots of good information which helped me make up my mind not to vaccinate. You have breastfed him and if you are still doing this, it will be the only thing he needs. The key to loosing your fear is to become well informed. These diseases are not as dangerous as the docs make you believe. I always stayed calm when talking to them and when they became persistent, I just wrote a lette to let them know that I had made an informed decision. After that they left us alone and it is now in my son's files that he will not receive another vaccine. Don't let yourself be guided by fear, become informed and ask your doctor for time to wait, don't rush this important decision. Sheri, the group moderator will probably have lots of good help on her website. Measles can only then be dangerous if you suppress any symptoms with drugs to stop them surfacing properly. Like for example if you give drugs to bring down the fever then this will stop the body burning off the virus and for the rash to come out, the body's natural way to get rid of the toxins from the virus. Like I said, get well informed from good sources and this will help you become strong and loose your fear. It takes time but you'll be amazed at how eye-opening this can be and how much you will learn. The most important thing: if you can, breastfeed her for as long as possible, for years. This is what I did and there have been a couple of Measles outbreaks here and my son stayed healthy, but I wouldn not worry now if he did het the measles or any other disease as he is soooo strong. I am from the UK and here vaccines are not compulsory so other members from the US will know more about regulations in NYC. I wish you all the best along your path to become informed. My doctor is supportive but does think that he should get the vaccine soon as winter is peak time for the diseases. We have thought about holding off until he is older hoping that the side effects will be more minimal as he matures. We have thought about trying to get a single jab for each measels mump and rubella but is seems to have just as many side effects. My son was exclusivly breastfeed for 15 months and for the most part we eat organic food and try to live a non toxic life in terms of chemicals in our home. I most days feel confident with holding off but every once in a while I feel a panik that he could die from one of the disease that the shot is supposed to prevent. Every time he comes down with a cold I check the symptoms of Measels and Mump to be sure that he does not have them. Can anyone give me any idea's on the percentage of normal healthy children that are not vaccinated that have serious side effects for the diseases. Is there anything that I can do to help my son stay healthy if we do not end up giving him the vaccine? In NYS state does anyone know that school requirements regarding vaccines? I would appreciate any information that could be passed along I am new to this and it is quite overwhelming.

I feel the exact same way. It's like a catch 22 situation for me. I feel more stress in my life than I ever have before. My dd is just 6 months and has not had any vax's. My husband and family wants me to get her shots for her and I feel so much pressure. I am trying to learn as much as possible but feel quite overwhelmed with the info. Most importantly I want to know how to treat a disease should something arise. I am also trying to learn how to eat healthier and am CLUELESS, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be forever grateful. I have been talking with Laurette and she has been a great comfort to me. jdesenf <jdesenf@...> wrote: Hi I am a new member of the group. Guest guest
Emma Palma Here are some items that may be of interest to you: Science News, in an article entitled " The Dark Side of Immunizations " (Nov. 22, 1997), reviewed several studies by New Zealand and by British researchers showing that vaccinated children have a higher incidence of asthma and diabetes than do unvaccinated children. The article notes that animal studies indicate that an absence of contact with naturally occurring viruses increases the risk of diabetes, and that research in humans suggests that some childhood infections may be advantageous in priming the child's immune system to fight off asthma. A 1994 study suggested that the pertussis vaccination of infants may increase the risk of asthma five-fold during childhood. (Odent MR, Culpin EE, Kimel T., " Pertussis vaccination and asthma: is there a link? " JAMA, 1994; 272:591-592.) A report in Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice showed that the incidence of diabetes in Finland was stable in children under four years of age until the government made several changes in its childhood vaccination schedule. The introduction of these new vaccines in that country were followed by a 62% rise in the incidence of diabetes in the 0 to 4 year-old age group, and a 19% rise of diabetes in the 5 to 9 year-old age group between the years 1980-82 and 1987-89. Guest guest
Sounds like you need to do Sheri's online homeopathy course!! I'm sure she will send you some information about it. Once you feel confident about using homeopathy for your health care needs you will find that the fear dissapates, but you need to come to this conclusion yourself, me telling you that you don't need to worry won't cut it I know! Guest guest
I had to learn to loose my fear of disease aswell, especially the childhood ones. It takes time and lots of information so just take this time to gather all the info you can. I do have respect for disease and illness but no fear. I think I have respect for life, nature and our body and treat it accordingly. If you give a car the wrong kind of fuel it won't go and break down. If you don't look after it, the same will happen. The same applies to our body, give it lots of foods as close to their natural state as possible and you can't go wrong. For example drinking orange juice from concentrate is fine but it is even better to drink it freshly squeezed or even eat the whole fruit, which is the best. This is true health not a cocktail of heavy metal and dead animal tissue plus preservatives. I think just finding out what the ingredients of vaccines are was enough to make me realize that I do not want my son to have any more and then I looked at the alternatives. I found out that measles and mumps (I have had both disaeses and am stronger for it)are necessary for the young immune system to develop and how you can use homeopathy to help a child that cannot cope and needs help. But I am still learning. I think scaremongering in both directions doesn't help, just good information. It is worth spending time over this issue before making a decision, after all it is for life. All the best wishes for this journey. Love, Ingrid

I second that! ....and .... if you treat it right, it will function right and if it fucntions right, then it will recover from anything.. If you treat your car right, you wont live in fear that it will break down.
Guest guest
Hi Ingrid and everyone that responding to my questions My husband has done some research on vaccines and feels very confident that our son should be vaccinated. He is understanding of my views and has been very patient while we consider this decesion. Does anyone have any actual stastics of people that have had adverse reactions to the MMR vaccine. Most information that I find regarding the vaccine talks about the Mercury in it but I know that now it is not in the vaccine in the U.S. Does anyone have some essays on the MMR vaccine in particular. I have looked through the website and printed some of the articles. Also alot has come out about water lately. I know that plastic is not good for you, but what is the alternative if you are on the go. We got rid of all our tupperware but I still find myself using plastic when I drink water. I would love to use glass but have not found anything out there that would be OK. Thanks for all the advice. Guest guest
Check out Sheri's website. It has info on each specific vaccine: http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm Here is another very informative site that breaks down info on each vaccine: http://www.whale.to/vaccines/vaccines.html Here is a link to VAERS, the governments site on Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System. It's estimated that only 1 - 10% of adverse reactions ever get reported. But you can look up reactions to the vaccines here: http://vaers.hhs.gov/scripts/data.cfm HTH Kay Re: Re: Some advice??? Sometimes I wish I kept going but at the time it felt right. My doctor has been very patient but she feels very confident that the MMR vaccine is completely safe. She has me a little concerned becuase she said that the outbreak time is approaching and I should make a decision soon. Is your main fear of the MMR autism or do you have other concern about it. Guest guest
Hi I do feel lucky that my doctor is patient. In our area doctors are dropping patients because of non vaccination. Also, many of my friends doctors do not spend the time with them that my doctor does. My doctor is in no way telling me what to do. She is just trying to give me all the information that she knows of. She is pro vaccine and feels that it is good. We live in Central New York and she does say that our severe winters make outbreaks more likely. I feel that I do have a good base of information regarding measels BUT there is very little information from people who's kids have had it. I seems to read over and over about people's childrens not getting it but what about the kids who do. Do they recover? What about the one's that die? I have read statisics are there are kids that die from measels. I am sorry that I am not as informed about everything but this is why I joined the group to get other opionons and information. Guest guest
I had measles as a child and got through it fine. Bad rash, fever, missed days from school, but was not given any allopathic medicine. Cold compresses for the fever and homeopathic meds to speed the measles out of my system. You can go to http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/mmwr_wk.html which is the cdc website showing how many people died from each illness in the past year. 64 from measles this year and 25 last year. Given the millions of people in the US this is minuscule and you don't know what those people's health situation was to begin with. Eat healthy and keep your immune system strong and you will be fine. C Re: Some advice??? Guest guest
When I think about it, it didn't take that much for me to lose my fear of disease, only logic. When YOU really think about it, our way of thinking makes more sense. And that is really all there is to it. We just have to get past the negative influences that try to make us believe otherwise. I don't think I ever had the fear some people have of disease. But I have never allowed myself to be victim of propaganda like some have. And it is propaganda that really spreads disease. . Ingrid Schebesch <ingrid_schebesch@...> wrote: I had to learn to loose my fear of disease aswell, especially the childhood ones.

I think people nowadays think all was disaster before vaccines. You need to really really research this information - this disease, this vaccine, alternative treatment. Measles is NOT a killer even though your doctor tells you it is. It makes me SICK that all of you of this generation of parents have been so lied to. Glad you are here and looking at this. There are not outbreaks of measles even in New York in the last 10 years at least. Guest guest
I was looking at the site and it was very interesting to have all the numbers in black and white but I am not so sure that is a death tally so much as a tally of people who contracted the dieases? Maybe I misread the titles because if it is just a tally of cases, that supports the non-vax stance even more because some of those numbers are almost non-exsistent. Guest guest
Hi Jen, the reasons for me refusing the MMR and any other vaccine is because I now know that Measles, Mumps and Rubella are not the killer diseases your doctor makes you believe they are; I now know that they are important for the child's immune system and how to deal with them when my son gets them. Autism is not really the reason any more, but of course, it did influence my decision. Information will help you loose your fear and deal with illness in a calm way. Best wishes, Ingrid
