Guest guest
Hello, One of my friends in my support group suffers from cataplexy. Cataplexy is a loss of muscle control, usually associated with Narcolepsy. Unlike fainting, where a patient loses consciousness, cataplexy patients are conscious of their surroundings but do suffer a loss of motor control and an inability to communicate. There are a few drugs for cataplexy, including Xyrem (to help put a patient into a deeper sleep), and some antidepressants to take during the daytime. It's not a common symptom of ME, but I'm curious if anyone has experienced with cataplexy in the group. I'd be most interested in what kind of doctors were helpful, and what kind of medications helped, if any.
