Guest guest
Is it the coffee or the caffeine you can't tolerate? Have you tried green tea? There's gobs of health benefits and it does have caffeine. I haven't used it as I don't tolerate stimulants well, but others have said it gives them a slight boost. Also if it's not the caffeine then have you checked out the caffeine pills or some of the drinks at health food stores. There's also a soda called jolt I think it is. One of the ginsengs is supposed to boost you up, but I can't remember if it's the Asian or native one. You could check into it. Maybe talk with an herbalist. There's bound to be one or two on this list. Try Blake. He might have some thoughts. macedgeca <macedgeca@...> wrote: What can be used to help get going for really important things when your body just doesn't want to? I've been trying to avoid anything so it won't do more harm, but I need something just to help me get some immediate matters taken care of (otherwise the stress and risk would be worse than the stimulant). I don't tolerate coffee, so that's out. Is there anything else that can be used? Feel free to e-mail me to the group or privately at: macedgeca at dot com. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Edy, I'm not positive, but I think I'm allergic to the actual coffee beans. I have some caffeine capsules, but it's hard to divide them, they might be too strong. I'm thinking it might be the caffeine as well. Besides how do you know if there isn't coffee in the capsules too? Jolt has more caffeine than coke, not only that there's a lot of sugar too. Thanks for the suggestions though. Hopefully, someone here found an alternative. Elyse What can be used to help get going for really important things when > your body just doesn't want to? Guest guest
Rhodiola Rosea gives me some help in such cases. Regulates my energy. Tea stimulates but crash comes afterwards. bw Nil Re: stimulant other than coffee > Is it the coffee or the caffeine you can't tolerate? Have you tried green > tea? Guest guest
Rhodiola is part of a compund I take every day. Do you have problems with organic coffee beans, also? Organic beans are wonderful, but I react to nonorganic coffee - coffee is a very pesticided crop. There are healthier alternatives than coffee (but I do love espresso). I get a similar boost of alertness, cognitive, and visual abilities from L-carnitine, CoQ10, DMAE, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Alpha lipoic acid (mainly improvements in visual clarity and sharpness), and Gingko biloba. Combinations of them work best, and I need large doses of L- carnitine and CoQ10 to realise benefits (100s of mg). If you can take cayenne capsules, the circulatory improvement seems to help the other substances to work. Jo
Guest guest
Nil, you don't crash after taking the Rhodiola Rosea? Do you take it regularly or just certain days . I'm wondering if it's the type of thing that's ok to take regularly or not. Elyse What can be used to help > > get going for really important things when > > your body just doesn't want to? Guest guest
I can not say I crash with it but I still do not take it regularly as I am also taking natural cortisone. I am not sure if they would go well together so I take Rhodiola only when I need some energy regulation. It keeps my HPA axis overactivation under control when I have a stressful event so I don't get over excited and my energy lasts longer. It is advised to take adaptogens with some breaks. 2 or three weeks and one week break would be fine. Rhodiola worked fine for me but there are also other adaptogens which may be tried. bw Nil Re: stimulant other than coffee > Nil, > you don't crash after taking the Rhodiola Rosea? Guest guest
Hi Elyse, I can well understand why you would want to do this. No lectures from me! I find that steroids work in the short term (i.s. Predislone, Dexamathasone) and also short bursts of Armour thyroid drug. Guest guest
Green tea is a good stimulant, but beware if you have adrenal fatigue. If you get shaky on coffee, you will also (just not as bad) on green tea, if you truly have adrenal fatigue. -W " Adrienne G. " <duckblossm@...> wrote: There are a zillion things. Guest guest
I'm suprised no one has mentioned whey protein, let alone just eating a little more protein with each meal.
