Guest guest
Hi Trina, Please send you post to www.autismanswer.com/forum . There is a lot they can say about your results. Not sure if you have been posting there yet. Please don't hesitate at all to get started. Please cut back on protien . . . I am almost sure that is why you have high ammonia. Your creatine is consider high on the UTM which means you are killling virus. The sodium/ potassium levels are some concern and I appoligize I don't remember but it has to do with genetics some way.(my memory is terrible at times). Glad you are off to a good start . . . these tests should be helpful, but please post on the other forum, too. Best wishs, Sue T Katrina Tangen <tvpro36@...> wrote: Well, excellent timing as always! Rich, don’t worry about replying if you’re too busy, but I thought you would like to know I got my baseline Urine Amino Acids and Urine Toxic Metals with Essential Elements tests back (still waiting on the MAP and, of course, the genetics). I do have high ammonia, but not out of range: 41100, range 12000-49000. I don’t have high taurine or any of the other markers for CBS upregulation (except most of my amino acids are low). I took the test 5 days after stopping the ImmunoPro and lowering the protein in my diet slightly (but still high protein), so I may not have been supporting my methylation cycle anymore. I had taken charcoal off and on the week before, including two nights before the test (but not the night before). The UTM-EE was 3 days later (had charcoal every one of those nights and lowered protein more in those few days). Creatinine in the AA test is 51. In the UTM, it’s 120. Both are spot, I wasn't able to do 24-hour. Other stand out values are very low sodium (in spite of high intake) and very high potassium. I assume this is because my adrenals are messed up. Iron is non-existent even though it’s fine in blood tests. Tryptophan is very high. Magnesium is low and Calcium is even lower. Please let me know if you’d like me to e-mail you copies of the full results. And everyone else feel free to comment too! Thanks, Trina --------------------------------- Stay in the know. Guest guest
Thanks Sue, Yep, I posted my results there and have been posting. Lots of helpful people! Hard to figure out how far to cut back on the protein. I've continued to cut back (meat only once a day now), but still have ammonia issues even with charcoal and yucca, so I guess I need to cut back more. I think the sodium-potassium stuff has to do with the ACE-deletion. Will have to go read that stuff again. Thanks for your help! Now I take a low dose steroid it is corrected. It might well be due to ACE deletion but you can do a lot to help the situation. If you have an HPA axis problem this can cause adrenal insufficiency and the only way round that is to supplement with a low dose steroid because no matter what you do your adrenals don't get the message to make sufficient cortisol for your body's need. I think it is very common with this illness. Pam
Guest guest
Thanks Pam, Yeah, I know my adrenals are messed up. I don't know what to do about it though. I tried the low dose cortisol a few years ago and it helped at first, then made my adrenals even worse. I'm hoping they'll get sorted out when the methylation gets going, but I don't know (with all the ACE deletion stuff and everything). I guess we'll see. In the meantime, I wish I could just figure out whether to take more or less sodium and potassium! Guest guest
Trina- I felt excellent a few years ago when I took licorice extract (LE). It enhances the cortisol that your adrenals are currently making, so there is no chance of making your adrenals even worse by supplementing w/ cortisol. The LE stopped making me feel normal after a while, but it was sure nice while it lasted. I still have quite a bit, but it is a few years old and I am not sure if it has lost it's potency or I would send it to you. It still tastes good though. To clarify, I am not suggesting people who need to don't supplement with cortisol, but for some it doesn't work-has to do w/ primary or secondary adrenal insufficiency-can't remember now. Guest guest
Thanks Mike, I've read mixed things about licorice, but I will keep that in mind. That was kind of you to think about sending it to me! Trina yakcamp22 <yakcamp22@...> wrote: Trina- I felt excellent a few years ago when I took licorice extract (LE). Guest guest
Mike, do you know if the deglycyrrhizinated form also does the job? Or is the removed part exactly what is needed for the adrenals? Thanks, Adrienne Re: Rich: Yasko UAA & UTM-EE results Trina- I felt excellent a few years ago when I took licorice extract (LE). Guest guest
Adrienne DGL (deglycyrrhizinated form) is for digestive issues and H Pylori. It has no adrenal effect. I really benefit from licorice root for adrenal support mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) Posted by: " Adrienne G.
