Guest guest
Hi Sue, L-Theanine is considered a metyl group. So if you are COMT-- it should be a good choice. If you do not know what COMT snp you are it is probably a hit and miss. I do great with a product called ZEN by Allergy Research Group. It contains both GABA and L-Theanine. I use it for sleep with .5 mg of Melatonin. I have found recently I do not need the Melatonin because I am using SAMe and my body is coverting Seratonin to melatonin better now since I have following the yasko program. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Sue T sb2boys <sb2boys@...> wrote: I read that this helps for sleep. Has anyone tried it? I'd like to find something that's not a prescribed med. to take, if I can. Thanks for your help! Guest guest
Sue, I can sympathize with your not wanting to go on prescribed meds. I have been taking Rest and Restore, which I buy from the http://endfatigue.com website, but it has only marginally helped. I got desperate and got a prescription for Lunesta but never filled it after reading reported side effects, especially about violent behavior, on http://www.askapatient.com. I came across an article that said the best natural combo for sleep is ..5-1 mg melatonin, 33-100 mg 5-HTP and 1500 mg Tryptophan. I decided to give that a try and it has worked pretty well. I started on 1000 mg of tryptophan, and will now up it to 1500. Someone told me to use 500 mg per 50 lbs of body weight. I take only one pill of the Rest and Restore, which gives me the melatonin, 5-HTP, plus GABA, Valerian, Scullcap, Passion Flower, Chamomile and Theonine, plus the typtophan and it gives me a pretty good night's sleep until 5:00 am. Hopefully, going to 1500 mg of the Tryptophan will let me sleep a little longer. You have to take Tryptophan with carbs and don't take it w/ protein or it won't pass through the blood/brain barrier. If that stops working and I have to go on Lunesta, don't cut me off on the hightway! :-) Chris -- In , " sb2boys " <sb2boys@...> wrote: > > I read that this helps for sleep. Has anyone tried it?
