Guest guest
Goodevening RE Suphur metabolism & CBS upregulation. Is there a set of supplements recommended for people with this polymorphism. I am sensitive to garlic & Same & very sensitive to nac , whey . Have tried TMG ,Folinic acid with neutral /slightly negative reaction. Tried P5P with no response. Noted in an earlier post that circumin increases cysteine .I am sensitive to cysteine ( NAC , Whey ) but have not had any issues taking circumin. regds Doug
Guest guest
Hi, Doug. > > Goodevening > > RE Suphur metabolism & CBS upregulation. > > Is there a set of supplements recommended for people with this > polymorphism. ***Yes, there is. Amy Yasko recommends yucca, activated charcoal, and a product called " ammonia RNA " that Dr. Garry Gordon sells. She also recommends lowering the amount of protein in the diet. And avoiding foods and supplements that contain sulfur is a good idea, too. All of this is designed to decrease the amount of ammonia, sulfite and hydrogen sulfide in your body. ***Prior to this, she recommends lowering your glutamate, particularly by avoiding foods that contain monosodium glutamate and related substances. ***After starting the ammonia protocol above, which will slow the flow into the transsulfuration pathway, Amy then recommends taking things that will speed up the " backdoor " pathway from homocysteine to methionine. These include TMG, phosphatidylcholine (lecithin), phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidylethanolamine. ***Only after this has been done for a while does she recommend supporting the methylation pathway with things like methyl- or hyroxo-cobalamin, FolaPro, folinic acid, BH4, or others, depending on the particular SNPs a person has. P5P mostly supports the transsulfuration pathway, and a person with a CBS upregulation probably doesn't need more support for that, because there is already too much flow going that way. A little would probably be good, though. > > I am sensitive to garlic & Same & very sensitive to nac , whey . ***O.K., that does sound like you might have CBS upregulation. > > Have tried TMG ,Folinic acid with neutral /slightly negative reaction. ***The folinic would not be a good idea early on. The TMG should be beneficial, after you have started the ammonia protocol and limited the glutamate. > Tried P5P with no response. ***O.K. As I said above, it would be best not to take too much of that. > > Noted in an earlier post that circumin increases cysteine .I am > sensitive to cysteine ( NAC , Whey ) but have not had any issues > taking circumin. ***Curcumin increases the gene expression for the enzyme glutamate cysteine ligase, which is the rate-limiting enzyme for the synthesis of glutathione. That should be helpful for a person with CBS upregulation, because that involves downregulation of that enzyme, which tends to lower the glutathione production. > > regds Doug > ***I hope this works for you, Doug. ***Rich
