Guest guest
I know there isn't yet a single perfect test, but there are certainly some things we can do, if I understand the science I've ben reading here and elsewhere. I have not got an official CFS/ME dx. I'm trying to short-cut some the CDC's " diagnosis by exclusion " and see if I've really got ME or if it's something else. I have an appointment Thursday with doctor who has trested many CFS people, Dr. Papernik. In particular, I really want to know if I go right to anaerobic energy production when I should be aerobic, so that I know whether I'm just getting tired when I try to exercise or I am doing real damage to myself. (Am I even asking the right question here?) I've had some incidents that sem like push-crash, (rode the exercycle on a Monday and Tuesday: Wednesday and Thrusday was in much worse shape, had toi take off work) but I don't seem sick enough in many ways for ME (just from reading here). Example - still working, but effectively only part-time as a take 1 sick-day every week, nap during the day and sometimes just stare at the screen. This has come on during the last year and a half, gotten significantly worse the laast 6 - 8 months. I'm thinking that if I'm ME, it's relatively early in the game. My GP wants a stress EKG. (Tho he also wanted to tell me it was psychological 7 months ago. Am seriously copnsidering a new GP.) This may be unavoidable, but I sure as hell want to do this only once if at all. I've read about use of " gas ergometry " to determine aerobic/anaeobic state. Are there other tests? What are the best tests to see if ME is probable or not? I hope this has made some sort of sense. Thanks. - Bob Niederman
