Guest guest
Hi Janet, I too am attempting the low protein diet for the ammonia protocol. Yasko said to basically have one fist sized portion of meat a day. I researched & it was about 21 grams. So you can figure out about what your diet is now by checking the packaging & adding it up. Almost all food will have the protein content on it. Also Yasko says you can do it gradually & do not worry so much about it. Just do the best you can. I know there will be some days I need more protein than others. Just so that it is lower overall. Sue also told me that taking the Ammonia RNA was a big help with the ammonia protocol. Also be sure to do a charcoal & magnesium flush, 2 or 3 times a week & take yucca root. Hope this helps, C J
Guest guest
Hi Janet, Yep, protein is in everything. But I think we will do Ok if we just do a lot of whole grains & veggies, a little fruit with one meal of protein or several smaller portions of protein. I had planned to eat beans. Beans have some protein but it is not complete unless you add rice & corn. I do not see beans being a problem, good form of fiber & complex carbohydrate. My biggest problem is giving up sulphur family, garlic, onions & broccoli etc. Are eggs really in the sulphur family? Will not miss meat that much. Will just do some dairy & a little chicken etc. Good that you are doing the charcoal & yucca. Wish I had heard about ordering from sooner, would have saved $160. Glad that there are more people all the time starting this programs so we can share experiences & info. C J
Guest guest
Hi Janet, Well first off all I had cut out eggs because of my genetics . . . no sulfur at least in the beginning. I would try to limit my protein to about 4 ounces a day for a month or so. Please remember it is possible for you to take the Branch Chain Amino acids or Amino care. There are many posts on www.autsimanswer/forum.com if you do a search. It sounds like too much protein to me. Try and limit it to one meal a day for a while. It was tough for me too cause I love protein. The RNA Ammonia works beautifully. My ammonia dropped fast and really low within a month. Forget the fat issue. I weighted 120 and went to 130 in a short while don't worry about it you are detoxing. Your body will level out later. Carbs will not make you fat . . just eat TONS of veggis and minimal fruit(increases candida). This is not forever. Guest guest
HI Sue, OK, I am going to do my best with this. I am 5'3 " and I already weigh 160, never used to be heavy, always was able to at least walk and can barely do that now, so the weight has gone up. I get hungry without protien, but I know because of the CBSA360A and the SUOX +/- I have problems with sulfur and ammonia. I am hoping that the few beans I add to my lunch salad I can get away with. I will look up the ammino acid support you recommend. Thank you for that. I make homemade veggie soup so I will try that in the AM with 1/2 of a muffin, plus an apple if I have to. I love protein like you do. I have already ordered the Ammonia, RNA. I talked to Payne. (Thank you for that.) Were you able to eat more protein after you got your ammonia down?? Thank you for reminding me its not forever! Guest guest
HI Janet, Nutrition is a real interest so . . . . I would not eat the fake Krab . . it has wheat, chemicals, excitotoxins, etc. Put it this way I do not eat fish period. But I take Mercury very serious cause I am FULL of it. (no pun intended). Please rember that the protein in meat is one thing regards to ammonia and the other issue is glutamate . . all protein is pretty high in glutamates along with dairy and wheat. Dairy and wheat are really high. There is a ton of info on this in Dr. Amy's books, DVDs, and on her parent forum. A great recipe book to order if you want to cut back on excitotoxin is " Battling the " MSG " myth " by Debbie Anglesey. For protein . . . how about small quanities of Organic Ground turkey, chicken, lamb, and some beef? Sulfur is in meat, too Please remember if you have problems with sulfur be careful of, onions, garlic, broccolii, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage, etc. Squashes, green beans, spinach, carrots, yes chicken soup with veggis is wonderful. I also use all glass cookware and stay away from all metals if I can. I will only MAYBE eat tiny quanities of fish once a month for a very special occasion. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Janet, if you feel worse eating low protein, don't do it. I tried once to get off red meat. Still was eating plenty of other protein. Got weaker and more mental. Gave in one day, had a burger and went flying with energy. I eat buffalo meat couple of times/wk. Still continue to be refreshed by a meal high in protein. Don't know if I have ammonia issues, but I sure know what works for me. Adrienne For Sue T, Can you help me with this??? Guest guest
I'm not a huge meat eater. Never have been. And when I got diagnosed, had gone to free range, then vegetarian. Since I started eating meat again, my health has declined (I did get married at the same time) and I've gained weight. Isn't a big issue with protein is the chemicals in the grain animals are fed and/or the chemicals injected in to the animals? Or in this case, is it protein in general, say peanut butter. Thanks, Laurel Re: For Sue T, Can you help me with this??? Janet wrote: " Were you able to eat more protein after you got your ammonia down?? Thank you for reminding me its not forever! " Well . . . Guest guest
Hi Laurel, Yes . .. the chemicals, abx, and hormones are all other issues not to eat non-organic meat, but again glutamates and ammonia are the main issues when it comes to Dr. Yasko's program with protein in general. So yes, all the issues are important. The problem is we need amino acids and protein is a main source for them. I think this is why Dr. Yasko's program will suggest to use Branach Chain Amino acids and Amino Care at times when levels get too low. Best wishes, Sue T Laurel Ley <laurel@...> wrote: I'm not a huge meat eater. Never have been. And when I got diagnosed, had gone to free range, then vegetarian. Guest guest
Hi All, I have been really careful with the herbs because of my CYP450 liver enzymes issues that were tested on the Detoxigenomics test. Not sure if Yucca interferes with the liver enzymes, but I believe it can thin blood. I have to stay away from Yucca for that reason. I am very careful with herbs because many do interfere with the Liver enzymes. The question is how much do they interfere. There are other supplements to chose from besides herbs in most categories that Dr. Yasko addresses so it is something that can be worked out. Sue T Janet s <jgstev716@...> wrote: HI C.J. (They only list garlic and St. Jphn's wort.) I can see why you are getting well. Your are running a tight ship! You go girl!!! I did notice today when I was shopping that protein is in most food! Big change for me, but I am hoping I can see a change in a month.
Guest guest
HI CJ. Yes, I am so GRATEFUL there are people doing the same program here! It really helps! Those beans are going to save me!! I will very much miss my egg in the AM. Thank you for the 21 gram guideline of protein. I noticed protein was even in popcorn!!! E-Gads with one portion of protein at dinner and a bag of popcorn I am already over my limit! Janet Cbuf1920@... wrote: Hi Janet, Yep, protein is in everything. C J
Guest guest
HI Janet, Thank you! I found I had to look up each herb individually. I have looked for books or publications that have this info on herbs and the CYP450s but can't seem to find any decent amount of info. I have a small list I put together myself but it is incomplete at this time. When I do a search I just put the name of the herb and CYP450 and sees what comes up. I do the best I can to get well . . . I can't really enjoy life too much until I am well enough . . . so what the Heck. I want to have lots of fun again . . . I miss it! You are doing great . . .
