Guest guest
What you say to your dog: " Get down off that couch, you little pooch. Come and get your food. " What your dog hears: " Blah, blah, blah, blah, - food. " What you say to us on this patient list: * b. When you say " I suspect that your homozygous SNP in CBS > explains why > you are sensitive to glutathione injections. These would add > sulfur metabolites to your body, and the combination of this SNP, > causing more sulfur metabolites to enter the transsulfuration > pathway, together with the addend sulfur in the glutathione > injections . " , what do you mean by sulfur metabolites. Are you > referring to sulfite ? I'm just wondering how the glutathione would add > more sulfur metabolites unless it broke down to cysteine. ***That's just it. It is partly broken down to cysteine. When glutathione is infused into the blood stream, it is rapidly taken up, primarily by the kidneys (about 80%). The kidneys have a very active gamma glutamyl cycle, and that breaks glutathione down. Some of the resulting cysteine goes into the blood stream. This, by the way, is also the cycle whereby the whey protein isolates (as opposed to the nondenatured or native whey protein concentrates) supply cysteine to the liver to make glutathione. The whey protein isolates contain their cysteine in oxidized form of cystine. The liver doesn't absorb that very well. So the cystine stays in the blood, is filtered out by the kidneys, and much of it is reabsorbed into the kidneys using the gamma glutamyl cycle. In the process of operating the gamma glutamyl cycle, not only is glutathione broken down, but amino acids, particularly cystine, are imported into the kidney cells. Once inside the cells, it is redcued to cysteine, and some of that is put back into the blood. The liver does import cysteine well, so this gives it cysteine to make glutathione. If one takes a whey protein concentrate, on the other hand, the cysteine is still in the reduced state, as when it came out of the cow. The liver can then import it directly. > > > ***Rich .
