Guest guest
I have been brewing Hawthorne berry tea to support my heart function for about three years at the recommendation of a cardiologist. He thinks the brewed stuff is better than capsules or tinctures/extracts. I get them by the pound from _www.ameriherb.com_ (http://www.ameriherb.com) mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) _sunscaper53@... _ (mailto:sunscaper53@...?Subject=Re: Hawthorn%20Extract?!) _sunscaper53 _ (sunscaper53) Thu Jul 27, 2006 1:31 pm (PST) Has anyone, used this for Heart Failure-like symptoms. there seems to be good evidence for its use?! Guest guest
l-Tryptophan can be like magic stuff. What I like about it is that is also rebuilds depeleted serotonin stores from which melatonin is made. So, it's a kind of two-fer!!! Your other option is a nice chunk of PLAIN roasted naked turkey at bedtime! mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) (Hey, ! Thanks for prodding me to open that jar of tryptophan I was too tired to bother with before; a spoonful of that before turning in has helped me fall asleep a LOT faster!) Guest guest
Yes I do and it helps. Buhner recommends hawthorn in his book " Healing Lyme " . It's a traditional remedy that's stood the test of time. Also, how much SAM-E do you take to get the saliva flowing....I have bad dry mouth, which has led to many dental infection problems.. Guest guest
Hawthorne berry tea: 1/2 cup twice daily 4T hawthorne berries to one quart of water, boil gently (actually simmer) for 30 minutes, bottle and refrigrate. SAM-e: Now I only need 400 to 800 mg per day. A search of the archives here will provide a whole lot of detail. I have taken 1200 to 1600 mg of SAM-e per day for over three years. mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) Hello MjH.. Guest guest
I've used it - I 'sense' that Cheney's diastolic cardiomyopathy idea may apply to me - particularly with the PFOs recently discussed (but with left-to-right shunting in my case) - as with most supplements, I really can't tell whether it has helped or not but I am definitely not the worse for it - I'm having a 'decent' summer compared to previous years - and I am willing to continue taking it just on the theoretical basis that it may help. It has a pleasant tart taste and I just pop it (the powder from beyond-a-century.com) into hot water in the morning that I drink like a cup of coffee (after a cup of coffee!). (Hey, ! Thanks for prodding me to open that jar of tryptophan I was too tired to bother with before; a spoonful of that before turning in has helped me fall asleep a LOT faster!) Guest guest
Thanks for the link. I had not seen this meta analysis as I was already taking Hawthorne before it was published. I am more familiar with the German COmmission E studies. I do not have high blood pressure nor do I regularly take any cardiac pharmaceuticals. I do have some Nitroglycerine on hand.... and, I even know where it is! mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) Link is _http://www.cfids-http://www.cfhttp://wwhtt_ (http://www.cfids-cab.org/MESA/Hawthorn.pdf)
Guest guest
On my Stress Echo, I had a decrease in Ejection Fraction, post exercise (Subjective symptoms: I, kept going for about 5 minutes to get to the required needed 80%, but the nurse noticed legs were about to collapse..she yelled for another nurse, as she thought I was about to faint). and increase in chamber dimension, showing evidence of ischemia..Cardiologists thought I had multivessel coronary disease, but cardiac catherization showed no such thing. > > Link is http://www.cfids-cab.org/MESA/Hawthorn.pdf > > >

Guest guest
Where do you get it (Tryptophan) ? I thought the FDA kept it illegal after that one bad batch caused problems. On 7/27/06, H.
