Guest guest
Hi I benefit big time from fish oil, so your post really caught my attention, What kind of fish oil are you taking and at what dose for what length of time. Which of your symptoms are worse? What are your cholesterol ratios? Hope you find something else that helps mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) Posted by: " finsenuk " _rebeccavw65@... _ (mailto:rebeccavw65@...?Subject=Re: Fish%20oils%20made%20me%20worse%20why%20?) _finsenuk _ (finsenuk) Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:52 am (PST) I have been taking really high does of fish oils recently which have made my symptoms so much worse. Can anyone explain this please ? Do they increase the activity of part of our immune system that may already be over reactive ? Guest guest
I've read that mixed fish oils which include some tropical oils (as opposed to pure cod or other North Sea fish) may include at least traces of ciguatera toxin.
Guest guest
I have been taking Efamarine and it makes my fatigue and flu like symptoms worse. I remember reading a few years ago when i last took it that it increases part of immune system IL2 I think and was wondering if this could be making me worse as obvioulsy part of my immune system is overactive anyway. > > Hi > > I benefit big time from fish oil, so your post really caught my attention, > > What kind of fish oil are you taking and at what dose for what length of > time. > > Which of your symptoms are worse? > > What are your cholesterol ratios? > > Hope you find something else that helps > > mjh > " The Basil Book " > _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) > > > Posted by: " finsenuk " _rebeccavw65@... _ > (mailto:rebeccavw65@...?Subject=Re: Fish%20oils%20made%20me% 20worse%20why%20?) _finsenuk _ > (finsenuk) > Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:52 am (PST) > I have been taking really high does of fish oils recently which have > made my symptoms so much worse. Guest guest
Hi. Some fish oils go racid; it's best to keep them in the frig and buy better brands, Joanee Blake Graham wrote: >It's possible that you have a genetic or aquired deficiency of specific omega-6 fats (e.g. arachidonic acid) which fish oil supplements worsened. Fish oil also don't work for me but EPO,hemp, borage seed does. When i have fish oil or eat meat my eczema like skin eruptions get worse. What does these two have in common?I mean fish oil and meat. bw Nil Fish oils made me worse why ? > > I have been taking really high does of fish oils recently which have > made my symptoms so much worse. Guest guest
Fish oil made me worse, but now I think after supplementing with EPO and/or borage oil for a bit, and having increasing pain, I started very slowly adding EFA's from fish oil. One cap a day for a couple weeks. Just a couple days ago I upped it to 2 a day. I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes -- a BALANCE is the key, and it's different for everyone. Also the brand, the purity, and the extraction method is very important. d, > > Fish oils give essential fatty acids. EFAs come as either Eicosapentanoic acid [EPA] , DHA [decahexanoic acid]?, GLA [gamma linoleic acid/gamma linolenic acid?] and some less featured variants like oleic acid. The point here is not one of correct syntax or semantics! It is this: EFA's produce Prostaglandins [P1/P2 types] and I think Eicosanoids. Double edged sword. Some are proinflammatory others antiinflammatory. The key I think is correct balance. > > Merck's " Vioxx " was a specific type of prostaglandin inhibitor: a cyclooxygenase2 inhibitor [COX2]. Too bad it bombed. Depending on your biochemical individuality, the quality of the oils used, whether you are male or female; etc.--a given 'fishoil' product may or may not help. It is a very complex affair once you look into it. Rich, I believe this is your turf: so take it away...[!] > > Always, > > -- > Hud J Oetoyo > Fish oils made me worse why ? > > I have been taking really high does of fish oils recently which have > made my symptoms so much worse. Guest guest
Fish oil suppresses TH1 responses, and thus increases TH2 dominance. This might not necessarily be good for a person who has a TH2 dominant condition.

Guest guest
Hi - There's a lot of conflicting studies regarding cytokine levels in CFS and fibromyalgia. However, given that many people are dealing with infections, one can infer that the th1 response is defective in some way in many people, so that overly suppressing th1 responses could cause problems. FWIW, the only thing I've written lately was a response to Alfred Blasi's response to my web page on Recuperation (which he posted on his discussion group). I have link to my response at the end of my web page, although it's probably too long and boring for most people to care to read. - Mark > > Mark, your recent 3 studies of why certain protocols may work was > outstanding!
