Guest guest
Hi, Here's my update on taking ImmunoPro. Sorry it's so long (especially for the digest people), but I like reading really detailed accounts of other people's experiences on various things, so I can compare my symptoms. So I figured I should provide the same. Summary: it's helping, I'm detoxing a lot, watch out for delayed reactions, lactaid significantly decreases the potency. Currently, I take ½ teaspoon ImmunoPro in half a glass (6oz?) of bottled water twice a day (before breakfast and dinner). (I will go back up to a full glass of water when I get back up to a higher dose). I use a small, battery operated hand mixer (the one sold by ImmuneSupport.com). I make sure to take it on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning or at least two hours after eating). I drink it slowly, holding each sip in my mouth (this is supposed to help it absorb through the mouth and also makes me not mind the taste since I'm not trying to chug it). I wait at least a half hour after drinking it to eat and usually an hour. I drink as much water as I want during this waiting time because that's supposed to help dilute the stomach acid. I've been sick for 7 years, am 27 years old, and am homebound. Usually can walk to the bathroom using a walker, but sometimes need a wheelchair. Can't cook, etc.. Can shower every few weeks using a shower chair. I haven't had my glutathione levels measured. I started taking ImmunoPro the middle of February. I started with ¼ tsp in a small amount of water (since it didn't taste very good). I didn't have any reaction, so I went up to ½ tsp twice a day the next day. With that afternoon dose, I had intestinal gas cramps a couple hours after taking it. I didn't realize at the time that bloating was a common herx from whey, I was only expecting flu-like symptoms from what I had read. I also got a little deep sleepy after the whey, starting with the first dose. So I kept increasing to 1 tsp twice the next day and 1.5 tsps the day after. I didn't have the cramping after that one time, but had bloating immediately after taking the whey from then on (more with the afternoon doses). I got advice on here to decrease it, so I went back down to ½ tsp and added a probiotic. I was still having bloating, so the next day I added Lactaid and that eliminated the bloating. I thought this made sense because I hadn't had dairy for like a year and thought I might be lactose-intolerant (and on the packaging it said you could take Lactaid with it). I also got more deep sleepy with this dose. I was then able to keep increasing the whey quickly, to the full 1 scoop (2 tsps) twice a day by a week later. I was also increasing Vitamin D before I started the whey (which seemed to increase my temp a bit) and especially during this week and started Recup the week after. Also, I was on anti-yeast medicines, including oral powders (nystatin and amphotericin- ½ hour after the whey (then another ½ hour to meal). When I started the whey, I began sweating more (felt like good sweat, like breaking a fever) and switching between hot and cold more. It made me cold right after taking it. Also, in the first few days, I felt a little better overall—not enough to really notice, but I didn't have any really bad days and was able to be on the computer more. I also started sleeping better (not waking up to go to the bathroom as often) and waking up with the sun every other day (although still having trouble getting to sleep). I was also going to the bathroom less overall, although not drinking any less. This improvement in my DI (diabetes insipidus) fluctuated though— with my hormones, I think. I could feel the difference in my bladder when it was doing better. My hands felt a little warmer. I had a big crash after about a week due to hormones—felt better once started progesterone cream and recovered from the crash more quickly than before the whey. Overall, I continued to feel a little better, cheeks seemed like they may have been a little pinker, and had slight flu-like symptoms (glands, especially ear/neck). My BP and heart rate fluctuated (one day my pulse got down to 50s and 60s; usually it's 80s- 90s even though I take a beta-blocker), but didn't increase my OI or other cardiac stuff. Overall, my pulse was decreasing. I had increased bowel movements, softer stools overall, colors switching between very dark and very light (1 day orange). When I drank the whey, I got crackling in-between my teeth, like it was killing things off. Various teeth hurt off and on. I had a low grade fever off and on (up to 101), although part of that was the Vitamin D I think. My tongue went back and forth between being clear and white (yeast die-off) and my yeast rash on my wrists came and went. My teeth felt very smooth off and on. I got more muscle twitches (although that may have been the Recup) and got detoxing pimples off and on on my face. My PMS crashes got slightly later and less severe each month (able to start progesterone later), I didn't need as much sleep, and my adrenals seemed to be improving—more reserves, more underneath energy, don't crash so much from stress, and improved sugar tolerance. I went to get my blood drawn and had to sit up forever, but instead of crashing, my adrenals kicked in at half and hour and I lasted pretty well. When I got home, it was hard to rest because they got stuck in " on " , but it seems better for them to be able to get stuck in `on' than to not be able to turn on at all. At one month of whey, I got some phlegm/congestion in my lungs that felt different than it normally does when I'm congested but that didn't bother me at all—it seemed like my immune system was starting to kick in (I also had a little fever). A couple days later, I had a severe attack of stomach gas (see message # 94745). After that, I had smaller attacks every few weeks (Gas-X helps some) and a lower level of bloating and burping in-between. When my stomach would get worse, I would tend to get hot, sometimes really really hot. After my stomach attack, I tried increasing the acid pills a bunch, then after awhile I didn't need any and actually couldn't tolerate any. So I switched to digestive enzymes without acid and then didn't need those either I added liposomal GSH at the end of April at ½ tsp twice a day, then increased after a few days to 1 tsp twice a day. When I started and when I increased, I had extra bloating on those days and flare up of white tongue (on the 1 tsp day), which then went away quickly. Eventually, I increased to 1.5 tsps twice a day. So it seemed to help my stomach and the first dose immediately cleared the poisoned feeling in my head. But it didn't seem to do anything overall in terms of improvement or herx symptoms. Incidentally, this fits into something I was reading in some really old posts in the archive. They said Dr. Cheney thinks that oral and IV raise extracellular GSH but not intracellular. They get broken down in the blood stream and don't get into the cells. So they help the stomach and he also mentioned that some people who take oral reduced glutathione have their poisoned headaches cleared, but they don't help overall like whey does. I don't know if this is current theory, but this matches how liposomal seems to work on me. When I tried reduced glutathione pills, they didn't seem to do anything. I've never tried IV, so can't compare. In mid-May, I started having more muscle stiffness and pain and not the flu-y stuff. First, it was very post-exertional, then I started having stiffness all the time, especially in my upper back. Stretching helped the stiffness a lot (usually stretching doesn't do anything for me). It felt like a good kind of stiffness—like the muscles were healing. Also, I had a little heart " attack " with my pulse over 100 and a high BP headache even though my BP was low, a little short of breath, and stomach burpy and bloaty. Some glandy/flu-y right before it. Overall, my bloating and burping was decreased a lot during this period and I was getting more deep sleepy again. I was able to take more showers more often and get food out of the oven once in awhile. June 2 I got a very bad stomach virus (vomiting, etc.). I had to stop the whey and my vitamins for a week, but was able to continue the Essential GSH (which I increased to 2 tsps twice a day) and my medicines. I was able to restart the whey June 8 at a ¼ tsp, which I took with Lactaid as usual. The next day, I decided to take it without Lactaid because I realized the lactose intolerance theory didn't make any sense. I'd been eating badly because of all the bloating and stomach attacks and stuff in the last few months and had fallen into eating icecream. I didn't have any problems with eating the icecream (only a tiny bit of bloating occasionally) without lactaid even though there is much more lactose in a bowl of icecream than in a small amount of essentially lactose-free whey. Plus, I'd been able to read more stuff in the archives (since 's search capabilities improved—yay!) and realized that bloating was a common side effect of whey. So I stopped taking the lactaid and the whey became much stronger. I think the lactaid was digesting the whey enough to make it a weaker version. So it still worked, but only at a low level (perhaps worked more like Immunocal?). A couple days I had run out of lactaid and took another lactose pill that had several other milk digesting enzymes in it. Those days, the whey didn't seem to work, so I think the extra enzymes digested it too much. So I'm sort of glad I took the lactaid for the first time around, so I could get a gentler version and see some benefit, but now I'm not taking it anymore and wouldn't recommend taking it unless you want to decrease the potency. Anyway, this time, I got a little bit of a flu-y reaction right away and bloating but not much of a reaction at first. Then at 10 days I started feeling bad but increased to ½ tsp twice a day because didn't realize it was a herx kicking in at first. I had a bit of a stomach attack—naseous, bad appetite, smelled like vomit for a day or so. The biggest problem was my BP was low and my OI was really bad (although I was also reintroducing the Vitamin D quickly and increased it to 5000IU). I read that low BP, OI, etc., was a common herx, so I decided to lower the liposomal GSH. I didn't restart ALA, fish oil, primrose oil, or any of my yeast meds and probiotics (except Lamisil pill which I hadn't had to stop and a basic probiotic). Then at 2.5 weeks after restarting the whey, I got a medium stomach attack (bloating, etc.), then the next day another medium stomach attack and a heart " attack " —my pulse got up to 118 (even though I take a beta-blocker every day) and my OI was very bad and I had to lie flat and was short of breath and had a fever and clammy and stuff. No pain or pressure or anything though. So I haven't increased the whey again and have continued to lower the liposomal until I went off it entirely Overall, my symptoms this time have included: Increased pulse still off and on (over 100, but never over 110, often in the afternoon). I started getting a stiff upper back and stiff feet, which I found encouraging since I had both of those symptoms when I first got sick. My tongue was pale on and off but never really white. I had little fevers on and off. I started having runny/stuff nose (just one side, then would suddenly disappear) and swollen, tender glands/tonsils. Also big bumps on the back of my tongue (glands?). I had dark stools all the time (light ones a couple times). My rash came back, then went away again. Then I got my blister rash on the side of my hand which I haven't had in a long time—it's a line of bumps with clear fluid inside that moves across my hand. It looks like blisters from a burn. I also started getting a new red rash on my wrists and hands that looked a little different than my yeast one. I had to urinate more frequently off and on, especially at night. More thirsty, off and on—felt like flushing things out. More often hot and clammy, sweaty like breaking a fever. Then the first week in July I wasn't able to walk. I'd be able to walk out to the living room first thing in the morning, but needed the wheelchair the rest of the day. The first day it happened, I was bending over and got OI really bad. The rest of the time, it was my muscles, not my OI. They weren't weak or wobbly or anything like normal, just wouldn't work—sort of a heaviness or stiffness or something. When I was sitting still, they'd feel like they'd work fine, then I'd try to take a step and just get stuck. At the beginning of the week, I felt bad in general and had a chemical burn feeling all over my body, but at the end of the week I felt really good, except for not being able to walk. I had an increasing sense of well-being and energy. I even had a friend visit and was able to last for half an hour (haven't had a visitor in a really long time). A couple days later, I was able to walk again. So, now it's been a month since I increased to ½ tsp, about a month and a half since restarted the whey altogether. I'm almost back to where I was before the flu. My rashes are all healing. My OI has been better, although still a little worse than usual. My adrenals are feeling good and get stuck in `on' sometimes. I still have burping and bloating sometimes (including some sulphur-smelling burps), but not as much. I'm starting to have a bit more energy and sense of well-being again and feel better immediately after taking the whey. My pulse and temperature are coming down. I think I'm a little less chemically sensitive. My bladder is starting to feel like my DI is improving a little again. I think my hormones are leveling out (haven't had to start progesterone yet). Also, I've been able to stop taking the Lamisil, so am off any yeast treatments, without a crash. In fact, the day I stopped the Lamisil, I felt a little better and my rashes started going away (although that may have been hormone-related). So I feel like it's helping, even though I've been having a lot of negative symptoms. But I'd welcome any feedback anyone has, especially in regards to the cardiac symptoms. I'm working on getting coagulation testing since in case the cardiac symptoms were increased coagulation from the herxing. I've been wanting to get that testing done anyway, but doctors are slow. I'm going to stay at ½ tsp for awhile and increase very slowly (and hopefully not until after my coagulation testing). I'm amazed I'm having such strong reactions to such a small dose this time—clearly the Lactaid was really decreasing the potency.
