Guest guest
Katrina Yes, I've written in detail about here before. But, I will do a short version again. officinalis is commonly called lemon balm and is a hardy herbaceous perennial, easy to grow. The anti viral properties of are only available in its FRESH form. It's other benefits are retained in the dried form. To capture the antiviral properties of , I cut the fresh lemon balm after the dew has dried in late morning and before the heat of the day and process it with alcohol within an hour. By definition, a tincture is made with alcohol, I use the world's cheapest vodka. When a tincture is added to a cup of very hot water, the alcohol evaporates leaving behind the antiviral benefits of . Yes, there are many commercial brands of , just make sure the label specifies that it is made from FRESH (lemon balm). Your other option, Katrina, would be to harvest every two to three weeks, make a very strong water extract and then freeze that, maybe use ice cube trays for portion control. I have not done this but it should work. Freezing the lemon balm itself, however, did not work for me. FOr more details, search the archives for the past few years. mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) _Heart. was Re: The International CFS/ME Society Names Top Doctor _ (/message/101907;_ylc=X3oDMTJxa3N\ hM240BF9 TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzkxNTc0BGdycHNwSWQDMTYwMDA2MTY0NQRtc2dJZAMxMDE5MDcEc2VjA 2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTE1MzA2NjEyNA--) Posted by: " kattemayo " _kattemayo@... _ (mailto:kattemayo@...?Subject=Re: Heart.%20was%20Re:%20The%20International%20CFS/ME%20Society%20Names%20Top%20Doct\ or) _kattemayo _ (kattemayo) Sun Jul 16, 2006 4:31 am (PST) mjh, >>>I self treated for suspected Herpes family members in addition to the obvious cold sores that were persistent with officinalia tincture.<<<< Sorry if I asked this before... I think you make your own melissa tincture? Are they also available on-line or in stores, and what brands? Is this the same as lemon balm? How do you make the tincture, and can it be done without alcohol? (Must be, for me). Thanks! Katrina
