My son started treatment at the New Jersey CT. Charlotte is terrific

there. He has seen great progress with his band even starting late

at 9.5 months. He got about 60 to 65 percent correction with his

first band and we just started him in his second. I now travel to

the satellite office in ndale, Virginia, at which Charlotte from

NJ and / from Charlotte take turns on alternating

Mondays. I think you'll be very happy with your decision to band. I

actively repositioned my son from two months to eight months, using a

special positioner made at s Hopkins, etc., with very little

progress. I'm very happy I decided to go with the band.

Hello & welcome to our group!

Another new member! This is terrific - well not really becuz that

unfortunately means you are also dealing with plagio, in your case,

brachy.

It is not too late to try aggressive repositioning, but of course,

the younger repositioning is begun, the better the chances are of

improvement. Check out www.plagiocephaly.org then click

repositioning tips for some helpful information.

A band would most likely be very effective. We also used the DOCband

but rec'd ours from the Chicago Cranial Tech location. We have had

several members use the Paramus clinic, I've heard nothing but good

stories about it. About how long of a drive would it be from your

home? We also drove about 4 hrs one way bi weekly for my daughter's

DOCband, it was stressful but definitely worth her rounder head :).

Your daughter is still at a great younger age to achieve great

correction if you choose to try a band.

Please be sure you keep us updated on whatever decision you come to.

Welcome again.

Thank you all for your warm welcomes and replies! After much

reading and picture viewing, we have decided that we're going to

go ahead with a band for Ingrid. We plan to start the process

tomorrow morning with the neurosurgeon. It was reassuring to

hear good reports about the NJ DOC Band clinic (3 hours away).

I'll keep you all posted. Maybe our experience can help

someone else...

Take care-

Hi and welcome to the group! Your daughter is at a really good age

to be starting treatment with a band if that is what you choose. You

might still be able to get some correction with repositioning, but as

she gets more mobile that might become a bit more difficult. My son

Danny also had the brachycephalic head shape and wore a STARband to

correct it. I just wanted to let you know that if the drive to

Paramus seems too far for you, I used a wonderful company (Harry J.

Lawall & Son Orthotics and Prosthetics) here in Phildelphia and I

know that they also have locations at DuPont in Delaware. I have to

admit that I was a bit leary going with the STARband at first, but I

really couldn't do the 2.5 hour drive for the twins adjustments plus

my two older boys. I was very fortunate to have gotten an ortho with

20 years experience treating babies with bands just a 15 minute drive

from my home. that being said, I have to say that we have had quite

a few members here who have used the Paramus, NJ office, and they all

have been very pleased with the care and attention, and most of the

correction that their child has received.

Good luck to you, and keep us posted!

You are more than welcome for all our replies & advice. I am sure

you'll be very pleased with your decision to get Ingrid the DOCband.

We also had to travel at least 3 hrs one way bi weekly, but it was

very worth the stressful drives in the end. Let us know how it goes

with the neuro. Keep us posted :)

,

Glad to hear that you have reached a decision. I doubt that you will ever

regret your decision and I think you will be very happy with the DOCband and

the CT clinic. Good luck and keep us posted.
