Guest guest
I would first start with purchasing Nourishing Traditions cookbook by Sally Fallon. This has been the best and most informational cookbook I have ever seen. I really think this book is amazing. You should also go online to www.westonaprice.org that has such good nutritional advice and goes along with the Sally Fallon cookbook. This will lead you in the right direction for you and your family's nutrition. I have already noticed feeling much better now that my son and I have been taking daily morning doses of cod liver oil with high vitamin REAL butter from grass-fed cows. This cookbook really breaks it down and you won't feel lost after reading it. I also think if you want to take a vitamin C supplement you should check into taking acerola powder. I have acerola powder but I only bought it to add to homemade sally fallon baby formula. I do think the cod liver oil is essential for everyone. It helps with depression, arthritis, and so many other benefits when you take it. SO please take my advice and check out the links. Much love, Good luck Christa __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I am also a newbie with trying to get my whole family eating better and well before you knock on my suggestions below please first read sally fallon's nourishing traditions and check out www.westonaprice.org I first started with switching all of my household cleaning products, toiletries, and bath and body products to all natural chemical free products. Then, I started with my main ingredients. We use to drink pasteurized whole milk and now we drink raw milk (non homogenized/non pasteurized, straight from the cow) you can get this from local farms and you can find this information on where to get it on westonaprice.org We use to eat regular store bought eggs and now we eat free range chicken eggs from local farms we use to use country crock butter and now we use organic valley butter we use to use white bread and now we soak our whole wheat flour in yoghurt for 24 hours and make our own bread we use to use regular table salt and now we use celtic sea salt so you just start switching all of your foods one at a time and start eliminating the bad foods all together. GET rid of your microwave, get all stainless steel cookware, glass cookware, or cast iron pans and get rid of anything aluminum. Plan to spend more time in the kitchen. Get rid of sugar. Only use natural sweetners (maple syrup, stevia, rapadura, and so on) Also read the back of nourishing Traditions to find out where to buy the purest natural products including cod liver oil, acerola powder, and so forth. Alright thats it....check it out for yourself you will be happy you did. another good link...www.4radiantlife.com __________________________________________________
Guest guest
A good greens supplement is a great way to help with immune support and extra vit's and minerals. I use Phyto Greens by Royal Body Care. Guest guest
I agree Tania, I use organic Royal Greens with Ruby Reds in distilled water and hope good synergy takes place during absorbtion. I reserve vit C for times of need. I do need to get on some fish oil. I friend of mine insists that fresh ground flax is better. Haven't researched enough to make a decision on that one. Guest guest
Anita, I've heard that most people cannot convert the flax into the necessary essential fatty acid. Don't know the chemical details but just that much. With fish oil one's body does not need to convert - apparently. Sheri B. Guest guest
Sheri, I'll keep that in mind. I heard that omega 6 when taking fish oil, even though most people have too much already, is a needed ingredient for proper absorbtion. Have you heard this? Anita " Sheri B. Guest guest
I use, purely by accident, a brand called Natrol Ester-C. The bottle says it's a unique form of vit C containing naturally occurring metabolites. It's patented manufacturing process neutralizes the ph, making Ester-C gentle on the digestive system. I like it because it comes in these large vegetarian capsules (500mg ea) that are super easy to open. The C granules pour out like sand into Henry's baby food where it is quickly and consumed without protest. Works for me. I just hope it's a highly absorbable product too. It's awfully expensive. However, I've never been a big vitamin/supplement person. What one or two things, nutrition-wise, could I do that will have the greatest impact on my health? I hear Vitamin C mentioned a lot but have no idea what " form " to take it in (ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate, etc). I've also heard that fish oils are key. And the list goes on. So what would you recommend for a newbie who is trying to build immunity. BTW, I have a 22 month old who has had no vaccinations since 6 months. Guest guest
We've been doing a little research into mercury laiden foodstuffs etc as a result of mercury poisoning - it goes thru placenta etc from fillings/amalgams, seafood from Western shorelines and out further.... even includes Sushi - the seaweed used to make the suhis sheets.... and includes fish oil unless it states " mercury tested/free " . Mercury and heavy metals are just another thing from the so-called western society that is supposed to be good for us. Like fluoride. My two cents.......again! Guest guest
If you look at vegetarian information online it outlines how flax and other sources are adequately converted. It also avoids the issue of metals/toxins and degenerative diseases of fish etc. Respectfully Cath In Vaccinations , " Sheri B.
