Your child would then have to have a SERIOUS reaction to qualify. Even then, they would decide which vaccine your child reacted to and mandate taking all other shots. Once you have gone through this process, you will most likely not be eligible for a religious exemption. Anita wings <wingsout@...> wrote: I am thinking of moving to Wyoming in the near future. I have read on 909shots what the laws are on this issue. It seems fairly simple yet I would appreciate some suggestions on how others have went about this. The medical exemption reads almost like a philosophical exemption. The religious exemption seems a bit unclear as how to go about it. I actually like the idea of the medical exemption based upon the little bit I have read. Guest guest
Medical exemptions are not usually the best way to go. They only pertain to individual vaccines (say the MMR for example) and are not written to include ALL vaccines. So, a child may be exempted from getting the " P " part of the DTP because of a previous reaction to it (the pertussis portion). But from what I've heard, they won't give medical exemptions for every vaccine a particular child may receive. Wyoming's religious exemption law is stated here. You could always call Wyoming's Dept. of Health and ask them how to go about getting a religious exemption. You wouldn't have to give your name or anything. " The statute mandates the issuance of an exemption from immunization for school children upon a written religious objection and does not permit an inquiry by the department of health into the sincerity of the religious beliefs of an applicant. LePage v. State, 18 P.3d 1177 (Wyo. 2001) " Kay Wyoming Exemptions I am thinking of moving to Wyoming in the near future. I may or may not send my children to the public schools there. Guest guest
WOW! I had no idea an exemption could prevent permission to the Dept.of Health to inquire about the sincerity of a persons religious beliefs. That's pretty incredible. I guess the choice is a no brainer.
