Guest guest
I am ALMOST certain my 2 yo dd has pertussis. My hubby asked, " Are you ready for her to be on an antibiotic yet? She could have pneumonia, " but as I do not think it is life=threatening I have declined and instead took her to friendly doc who, after looking in her ears and listening to chest, decided she didn't need antibiotics and that her problem is big time allergies. Then he manipulated her with the cranialsacral therapy and asked if I wanted pills for her...like allergy pills! He don't know me too well, do he. Anyhow, I looked into the symptoms of pertussis and they fit. Hubby said if we did a blood test and it is positive, the Health Dept will be all over us like bears on honey so have decided probably NOT a good idea. She has not improved so have been able to get her into a HP Friday that I have had no experience with. SHe is at the stage I don't feel comfortable with treating myself and the remedy dosages may be more than what my kits contain. The other concern is the other 5 children....they all have some degree of cough. , my 18 yo dd, is now in New York taking a 4 week acting workshop. The other 4 are home. Should I quarantine all of them in case they also have pertussis? All their coughs are different so would that mean taking all their cases individually or is there a blanket remedy? I guess I can ask the HP tomorrow. My 12 yo ds is at the local fair now and has been for 3 nights and also participated in football camp 3 evenings and I am sure he didn't practice containing his coughing droplets!!! I printed out an exerpt on treating pertussis from the whaleto site. Also the file on remedies from Sheri here at the board. I'll take those to HP tomorrow, too. UGH. WOn't I have fun if we're quarantined for the 8 weeks it's considered contagious? Gigi has had the cough for 2 weeks now and I think the rest started last week so that's 7 weeks left to be on the safe side. I better get to store for her remedy! I don't recall her coughing when we took her to NY but she should probably be prepared. What about hubby? YIKES!!! Can't afford if he takes 8 weeks off. Better get him nosoded (oh, forgot...he and I have been vaxxed as children so am SURE we are immune) (for those of you who don't know me, that was a sarcastic remark as I have no belief in the effectiveness of vaxxes).
