What are these white things?

I had an new experience last night.Again I was swarmed with bites when I went to bed. I took out the Vaseline and while rubbing it on my legs I came across small grains of something in the area I was feeling the bites. I rub a number of them off to look at. They just looked like white grains of sand - very small.Now keep in mind I was half a sleep, not wearing my glasses at the time and everything was covered in Vaseline but it just seemed odd as I've never seen anything like this before. It didn't seem to have any legs. It was much like the black specks but white or clear. It certainly didn't seem like any bug. It didn't even seem alive.Any ideas or have I lost my mind?Tasha
