I'm ditching my huge air mattress with cursed flocked top. I'mchanging everything right now. What has worked for you? I need afull size mattress with no flocking... I tried putting a flocked onein vinyl but i just don't trust it any more. I think this is a good topic to have around for newbies, btw.

I use a flocked one, but i sprinkle borax over the top of it, then

cover that with a vellux blanket. Then put a sheet over that. The

borax gets down in the flocking. The blanket is also good for warmth.

The air inside the mattresses gets cold. Adam posted a site to buy a

good vinyl mattress cover thats cheap.

I have never found vinyl covers to work,

maybe because the zipper lets them crawl through.

I am using a thick piece of foam from a

Bed Store for a mattress and for a pillow that I cover in fresh plastic bags each

night. It is so much more comfortable than the air mattresses I tried. I lie on

top of a conference table with legs covered in double-sided tape.

I am awaiting the disposable sheets that

KJ recommended. Ooops, I forgot…do they have disposable pillowcases, too?

Hi

Flocked downy top is perfect for soaking in epsom 1 cup to 3 cups water , and

the Flocked downy top used as the side towards floor lasts much longer due to

puncture resistence of the Flocking.

If only I could flock my body & epsom soak it , ......nothing lives in epsom .

I still need to bleach the air mattress every 4 days for 20 mins & rinse .

Flock on !

For long term prevention of breeding in flocking use the Dustmite and Nylar then put the Epsom mix on top for the short term until the other kicks in and after they do kick in to protect from imports (sheds, environmental 'drop-ins')

Pamela, the vinyl covers are a waste of money and time. I've done the painters plastic and airmattress...The thing that I have found that works for me is the memory foam mattress from walmart with a BENESLEEP coverz(40 bucks for a queen). Got it from walmart also...in a clear package with bright green trim. Pillowcases too(8-10 bucks each). The packaging says keeps bed bugs and dust mites in. Works great and is not noisy and uncomfortable like the plastic. I still use the air mattress in the living room sometimes when we watch movies. Still havent bought another sofa....lol. I know ya'll understand. Hope this helps. Chasity> >> > Thats a good question--Iwould get a cheap one til all of this is > gone. Definitley not memory foam type--too much area to hide. I've put DE, RP, Windex, you name it on the flocked top. Just not worth it. Never again. I will probably get a vinyl cover until I can afford a really good one (REI makes a nice one I'm told.) Thanks for the tip, Chasity.

That's because they don't work.

In the short run, have you tried spritzing vinegar? Definitely hides your scent.

Or you might try the formerly quite popular but now forgotten Orange Plus, or sprinkle menthol crystals in the tufts. Any of these will give you some relief. However to keep them from breeding in it, you are going to need the Dustmite and Nylar. Everything else--everything--is only good as long as it is on there (DE, RP) or fresh (scented products). The Nylar prevents them from hatching, but those that do, or that you carry on, die at the larval stage if there is enough texture in the flocking for the Dustmite to hold onto. The Dustmite is good on carpet for 6 months, but the fibers are longer. I would think 2 months maybe for flocking as it simply won't hold as much of the Dustmite. The Dustmite you mix in water with the Nylar in the amounts on their respective packages. Then on a bed I would spray more generously than the floor, less area to cover, and a more critical surface since we rely on it to sleep. The Dustmite and Nylar soak into the

flocking and pool underneath it on the vinyl (or rubber or whatever) itself. The only reason Dustmite doesn't last forever is that, on carpet, we step on the fibers, they bend, and some of the Dustmite in the fibers we crush with our step powders down to the carpet backing. The same will happen with the flocking, but all of it will "powder down" faster as the flocking is shorter fibered than most carpets.

Sleep tight!

Epsom crusted flocking ...bye bye life forms ....

still have to bleach it every 4 days for 2 mins then rinse. Then plop it on a

nice wet borax soaked floor. Totally safe from crawlers, its the wet edge

sticking to the floor that stops them .

Flocked or flocked , dried epsom is way more powerful then it seems & you can

eat it ......... says the package.

1 cup to 3 cups water in a sprayer.

ps is the BENESBED a foam mattress? , one of my customers the has a bad bug in

her basement & yard . she says she uses a posture pedic with no problem . The

bugs she gets hit from cause a burning sensation . Like a terrible sunburn , I

felt them and brought them home, I gassed my car & sulfur creamed my body (1

teaspoon sulfur & 7-9 teaspns simple hand creme )to kill them . Since then I got

hit one time with this burning bug sensation & I put the

16 OZ Peroxide

2-3 tablespoons borax &

32 oz water on it the burning area & it stopped it in 30 seconds...

miracles ...... I could not stop it before for at least 2 days . It left a big

4 & #39; & #39;X5 & #39; & #39; red welt, which went away. after 4 days.

bye , Bill

Thanks Bill. i will try the salt. i used the Dustmite kj recommended on bed

and car last night. Big improvement in the car! No needles in the feet for 3

whole miles. Also made cedarcide and will post in a few days about how it & #39;s

working.

Hi Tenchantre

How heavy did you use the Dustmite . Did it make you cough ? .

I gas my car , every 3 days ,3 times then you get weeks & weeks of

bugless-ness. I also spray epsom all over the steering wheel, it works great .

It rinses right off.

I think 5 lbs of c0r2 is enough to do a car , I use the whole 20 lb tank and

open it & clsoe the door with the heat vent set to recirculate to trap the gas

inside , 8 hrs later I air for 6 hrs, I never sniff C02 it will knock you down

& cause kidney failure.

Please keep me posted on the dustmite progress, that is such good news, I can

breathe around Roach prufe, I had to rinse mine away when I dusted 1 room

.....nasty cough for 1-2 weeks after.. ....nasty . .

God bless you,

Bill

ps keep praying for all of us ,please

pss looks like the forum is not working anymore. Sad , 1 bad apple the whole

bushel gets thrown out ? ...

Hi

correction I bleach the air mattress for 20 mins outside with 20% bleach to

water , then rinse well with another sprayer of water . It renders buglessness

everytime. then plop it on a wet borax floor for the hermetic seal to the floorm

I never get bit at nite anymore. I sure used to get bit before this procedure.

bye

ps

My brother says he got bedbugs from traveling (he says he can see them ) , he

uses limestone dust he says it works, limestone dust is organic & non

poisonness. I will try that soon .

it in the car. i need to price some tanks... maybe i can rent one. I & #39;m

hoping burning menthol crystals will help- waiting for those to arrive. sucks

about the forum... we need to stick together.

BEDS

Supposedly critters don't like real latex.

CAR FLOOR

Also, the Dustmite will be more and more effective until all you have to do for environmental attacks in your car is simply vacuum weekly, and you won't have to be a perfectionist about it. I do love it, obviously :-) BTW, if the seats and headliner are cloth, I'd spray them with the Dustmite also.

No the Dustmite didn't make me cough, but I got out as fast as I could so I wouldn't breathe it. All boric acid gives me a headache (I mop heavily with Borax and have to let it really dry before sleeping). This did give me quite a headache, and like I said, I was careful.

I know the RP didn't work for everyone...but mostly I've seen positive posts about it. Myself and a friend had no success with it. For my friend, it just got them mad. I really didn't notice any difference in the environment. The Dustmite totally dissolves in water and is a clear liquid, which makes it extremely convenient for thorough all-over treatment. It does leave a trace of grit on the floor, which is good imo.

I am going to wait until the Nylar comes to do a massive spraying. I'll be making gallons of cedarcide using Trisha' recipie, so I think I need a diffuser. Recommendations?

Thanks, good info. I have deeply sprayed it twice with Dustmite, plus a top coating of cedarcide + neem, so i think it should be okay for another week. Even if i end up with another flocked and an allergy cover, I'll thoroughly spray the new one before zipping it up. I wonder why it's so hard to find a plain vinyl mattress that's not junk.

Board is back up, minus a few folks, I think, though if tonight is

any indication, everyone is gone!

I have the Walmart premium but this sounds newer, better. My bed is

the memory foam kind you stack the different densities and put the

soft cushy one on top. I need to get another 4 inch firm one for the

bottom to fill out my mattress cover (deep) so it doesn't hang over

the lip on my platform bed. I'll check this out too--when I have

another paycheck or two under my belt.

I put my dustmite-resistant, covered memory foam ergo pillow UNDER the vellux blanket, which is covered with 1/4" thick layer of DE+Roach Prufe+Epsom Salts, so any critter that ventures anywhere near my pillow is not reaching me through all that deadly powder.katie

I have never found vinyl covers to work, maybe because the zipper lets them crawl through.

I am using a thick piece of foam from a Bed Store for a mattress and for a pillow that I cover in fresh plastic bags each night. It is so much more comfortable than the air mattresses I tried. I lie on top of a conference table with legs covered in double-sided tape.

I am awaiting the disposable sheets that KJ recommended. Ooops, I forgot…do they have disposable pillowcases, too?

I use a flocked one, but i sprinkle borax over the top of it, then cover that with a vellux blanket. Then put a sheet over that. The borax gets down in the flocking. The blanket is also good for warmth. The air inside the mattresses gets cold. Adam posted a site to buy a good vinyl mattress cover thats cheap.>> Thats a good question--Iwould get a cheap one til all of this is gone. Definitley not memory foam type--too much area to hide. rascals aren't taking me down!!! and I'm keeping my life, what's left of it, but

they are on their way out. I need to look up how to CO2 the house and car as my

body is slowly but surely purging the critters. I wish my gut would let me drink

the salt+C (nasty) all week, I'm going to keep some in my system all the time,

but on the weekend I am doing that heavily and it is resulting in an unexpected

colon cleanse!!!

oh dear! I do hope the latrine isn't too far a jaunt! Though at this point, I'd

Yes, is brilliant! the absolute most organized individual I've seen. If only i could figure out how she does it.
