Good morning Kirsten,

I used to have lot's of problems with my hands and they are pretty good today.

You can't even tell. Of course with doctors orders, some of the therapies they

used to prescribe for me were moderate heat and hot wax treatments in those days

done at the therapist office. I once asked why moderate heat and was told that

if it was too hot it would cause more fluid to go into the affected area so that

is why the moderate.

Anyway, those years were and still are the only time I really enjoy washing

dishes!! lol. I hope yours improve, Oh and last winter, I cut the finger tips

out of some fleece gloves so I could type but keep my hands warm while typing on

the computer at home.

Good luck and good day,

----- Original Message -----

it was like my hands were frozen. I could type but just barely. I had to

force my hands to work again. Does anyone else get this too? What do you find

helps?

Hi Kirsten

I know just what you mean about frozen hands. We went up to visit my son

and it is always colder than down south where we live but he was away on

business due back the next day so we went into unheated house. In a matter

of minutes I was shaking with the cold and I felt all my body was frozen

like hypothermia I had a thick coat on and then I had to put a big double

thick quilt round me and I felt so ill I have never experienced anything

like it. I was fine when I thawed out but it was quite an unpleasant

experience.

Hope you can post without difficulty now.

Best wishes

Joan U.K.

Kirsten,

I get this all the time. It makes me frustrated b/c I do a lot with my hands

and I hate when they freeze up like that. Mine have just started doing this

over the last two years (I have had Still's for 21 yrs), so I guess it's

something that comes along with a progression of sorts. Mainly I get afraid b/c

I play the piano and it would break my heart to eventually be unable to play.

What I do is just wait. Sometimes, if it's from cold, warmth helps them

unfreeze. But it's not always the temperature that affects it. Sometimes it

just happens out of the blue.

to force my hands to work again. After about 10 minutes they were fine, but it

really freaked me out... I just never had those types of problems before, and it

seems like it's happening more and more.

Does anyone else get this too? What do you find helps?

Gail,

It's funny. I was just talking to my boyfriend yesterday about how I don't want

to ever have to stop playing the piano. It's my life, and I just can't imagine

not being able to touch those ebony and ivory keys the same way.

I have the problem of when I put the stuff of my hands, I eventually have to wash it off after using the bathroom or before eating. And because of this, my hands get extra dry and guess where they are attacking. What do you guys do for this problem?

If there's a chink in the armor these horrible things will find it.

You could carry a spritzer mix of white vinegar and your choice of

essential repellent oil to spray your hands with between washings. I

like peppermint, personally. The vinegar will maintain your ph without

drying your hands further.
