Guest guest
Thanks KJ, you always sound so inspiring and uplifting..........all true about seeing opportunity....just got to mull it over right now.... there is no such thing as living near work, I travel potentially a hundred mile radius around a cosmopolitan area on a daily basis. but the Business places are costly cause those things are usually expense related and thus quite inflated....may have to go with the city' flea hotels for monthly rates...at least for a spell.....the smaller the place so better I find, less to clean, I just need a couple of square feet , a shower or a tub and tightly sealed doors for my menthol parties....a little RV would not be so bad for awhile...can I rent a place/space , I know they have those in the suburbs..??? m From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters@...>Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your lifestylebird mites Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no chimneys. Maybe you can live out of a suitcase in one of those places that rent to business people by the week. If the room is hard to work with, move till you find temporary digs you like. Rip the sheets off the bed each morning and if you want, tip the maid a bit extra. There are probably some places close to your job. Then look for something permanent. Guest guest
If you do stay at a extended stay hotel...bring your own vacuum and use it everyday. Extended stay places don't vacuum but once a week. Maybe a travel trailer or camper would work for you? It would be small, and you could remove all of the carpet and cloth from it. Even a small trailer in a trailer park might work. I had a friend that lived out of a parked Rv for the longest time...with gas prices so high, people were practically giving the RV's away. He got one for 10 thousand and his payments were about 200 a month. Then he parked it and got hook ups for electric and water and that was 150 a month. > > From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters@...> > Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your lifestyle > bird mites > Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM > > > > > > > Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no chimneys. Guest guest
Man, that is a great suggestions. We are talking mite fighting times only on the most optimal 'turf' possible without any one 'near' getting hurt or things adjecent get ruined and I must pay for damage in addition to all this costly fiasco with this nasty battle. Those RV parks , do the scrutinize the length of time one 'parks' in their space? thanks, Save.... mulling and mulling still M From: savemyskin4me <savemyskin4me@...>Subject: Re: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your lifestylebird mites Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 8:29 PM If you do stay at a extended stay hotel...bring your own vacuum anduse it everyday. Guest guest
That is funny Bob, I just wanna to send you a big rasperry salut in regards to your THREE LEVEL house of yours which I envy so much..... however, I just got back from Pacifica, 15 mins from the city and just hated to leave it, It is smack at the ocean, though the long term 'parker' would not get premium ocean sites, so acouple of feets further is just fine with me, small deposit, all ALL I need is a litte camper, one I am anxiously will turn into an inferno, a smashing sauna dripping of menthol crystals from every square millimeter....top to bottom....of course when I am not there, I hope I get the corner lot, 15 feet between campers is regulation....anyhow, I am in vagabond mode, it is considered a resort, pool, hot tub, laundry mat, electricity, h20 all included....all those campers there reminded me on LA, now I pretend I am on a shoot, movie shoot that is, in my real case it will be a mite ho dawn...heeee heee... I feel silly in spite of the E word yesterday.....yes, I feel better..... btw...I re-starded to use the old leftover cellfood (Lumina), it is considered oral dietary supplement and converts chloride to O2 within the pathways...instead taking it just orally yesterday, I let a few drops go into my 'infected' ear, my nostrils,,and other places..and lo behold...they are exiting like mad....so I continued with this spectacle all day...and feel actually less 'disturbed'....I will watch for any developing resistance on 'their' part to this stuff, as we know they tend to do.... So, I am crazy in my attempts of 'repelling'...it has been known, that I not only sprinkle cayenne pepper on my plate about to use but also over my hair, same with oregano flakes, sometimes I use them in the bath water and mistaken them for dead mites for a moment. Now go, laugh..... In a camping mode I am.... I got in the mood a week ago with my new camping cot from REI, including camping blankets, pad, even fitted sheet and a pillow all made from Thermatech stuff....I feel almost normal again, not sleeping in a chair for a change.... Now, go go go traipse up those flights of stairs within your mansion and kick mite butt.. ......rasperrry..................m From: <bobbyboyd99@...>Subject: Re: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your lifestylebird mites Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 9:38 AM M, I wish you were closer - I'd give you a bog ole bughug. Guest guest
Oh, on suggestions. I bought this air mattress at REI and have had a lot of success: http://www.rei.com/product/768293It is easy to wash in the shower because it has all around smooth sides. There is no fuzzy top like most of the other ones. I could never get them completely off the fuzzy top ones. It also soaks up whatever you spray on it. I just toss it in the shower and wash it down with dawn dish soap. I have minimum activity at night now. Oh, can't forget the satin sheets. Rita's suggestion was great. I think she used silk though. I just bought cheap pairs at Ross for $10 and rotate them. I tried cotton for a while with the air mattress but started having problems again. Guest guest
, our pillar of the mite community, our rock of gibralta... You are such an inspiration and guidance and I am amazed how you find time to capture our interest by your polls, by your never ending endeavors and sharing your success, analysis etc. to fight this battle. Your energy level and spunk is contagious. That will be the only thing contagious around here, lol. ABout the previous poll for critter ID: well, since I am the most 'seeing' one here: in normal room light mostly they are jumpy, appear fuzzy at first, somewhat round and translucent but dark outlines, however, in daylight, outside: I clearly make out 'appendages', ever so whisp like, almost like translucent but segmented hair or hoses with curves, I swear that appendage must be a furucula (sp?) for a colembola....then so when attacking or invading me, those things must 'thread' with all those attachements, ever so feather light ...sorry, I could not reply to the posted poll as I could not identify with the proposed outlines there for my particular brand. I could 'doodle' you an outline, it is vividly ingrained into my vision and soul for over a year and may stay with me for ever, even when eradicated, hopefully soon. On another note, I have been monopolizing this site with my stuff a lot lately, most likely would have labeled off topic or go private with some of the group here, some of them I did, However, I was hoping to make a point again about fighting this battle in an owned house vs. multi-dwellings, as well as country vs. city. Right now, I can only identify with Lou A and in regards to my particular fight in this apartment living setting with all this tribulations. so, thanks and all for baring with me during these trying times. Now I am off to get me an RV, probably keep it for the rest of my life, I had it with apartments, or condos even after this menace will be over. Traumatized, victimized...yet energized by all of you in this group and I am deeply grateful to you ALL. Guest guest
Yeah, that small a space you could menthol the hell out of it while you were at work. You might even be able to take the rv with you to work....I don't know if you come across any roadside rest areas in your 100 mile travels, but those are a option too. Another thought....remember the guy that was on this forum that took his car to the paint place and got it baked? I wonder if you could do that with a RV (if it was small)? Plus, you also have the option to CO2 the RV as well....you already have the tank...you might as well get good use out of it. So car baking, CO2 and Menthol....take out the carpet and cloth.... take your clothes to the Laundromat (they have really hot dryers).. mobile wireless card for your internet....rip the bed out of the RV and put in a Hammock (can put that sucker in the dryer!)That's why they use Hammock's in the tropics..to keep the crawling bugs away. Downsides....small shower and probably no tub.....limited hot water, and I think?? you can get them with a microwave. > > > > From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters @...> > > Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your > lifestyle > > bird mites > > Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no > chimneys. Guest guest
That's perfect, exactly the kind of info I wanted. I knew that what I listed would be katie-specific and might not match what others are dealing with. I am trying to get a big picture so I can start separating out what is what. Some things are falling into place. I am compiling something to share some of those patterns. I hope when (not if) I beat these things that I have the interest and energy to continue, but while I am still dealing, I can't not do this research and writing. But back to YOU. I'm so happy for you, M, it sounds like you are on your way. Imagine. You get to design your life all over again! Guest guest
Hey Everyone! Thank you, for your words of encouragement... and thank you- all of you for being there. May God bless you with His presence and His salvation. This discussion brings to mind another issue: my car. How do I ever get that treated? I did get a company to give me a price on fumigation with vikane: $350. Not bad. My personal effects, an additional $1000- about. The house: $3500. I do not now have the money for any of it. Tell me, would carbon monoxide do it? Do these nasty little things breath like you and I? What if I ran a hose from the exhaust pipe into the window and let the car idle through a tank of gas? Would carbon monoxide kill the eggs and larvae too? These things live through vacuuming after vacuuming, as well as a concentration of every chemical one can buy at DoYourOwnPestControl.com. These are the super bugs from hell. I thought about soaking the car with kerosine- figuring that that should kill everything, but I probably would never be able to drive the car again safely. Hmmm... (I am praying, spending alot more time with the Lord these days.) Any thoughts on treatment of a car? > > > > > > From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters @...> > > > Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your > > lifestyle > > > bird mites > > > Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no > > chimneys. Guest guest
These things also hate salt....so the salt air should do you a world of good M and you can swim in the ocean when its warm (or is it too polluted for that now??) Now to find the RV....remember you don't HAVE to get at in Cali.....check online for good prices...since it's winter you might be able to get a good deal. Even if you bought one in another state....fly out there and drive it back home. Did you know that Ebay sells cars and RV's? Guest guest
Hi sweetie, Doe uses CO2 (dangerous but ok if used with great care, and very effective) and someone used menthol crystals. Others tried dehumidifying the car, but that in itself won't get rid of them, it just seriously shortens the life span of the critters. Search for " Doe CO2 " or (Trly or Dammit) + " menthol car " katie > > > > > > > > From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters @...> > > > > Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your > > > lifestyle > > > > bird mites > > > > Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no > > > chimneys. Guest guest
kerosine? Holy Crap! LOL Ok, cars have been talked about alot here and are probably the hardest to keep under control. You can do a search here for car. There are a couple of other you should join, they are run by people who post here and these wonderful souls have condensed much of the protocols that he have developed here and have made them easy to find. The ones that I know of are: " critterfiles " , " invisiblebitingmites " and " boinfostg " the last one has a protocol for a car that uses CO2 tank to do the same thing you are thinking with the tailpipe but a little safer. Did you see people talking about burning menthol? you can do that in your car and its very effective. I use menthol and a IGR (insect growth regulator) called nylar with much success. Menthol to kill the adults and nylar to kill the larva and eggs. Are there any other groups besides the ones I mentioned?? > > > > > > > > From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters @...> > > > > Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your > > > lifestyle > > > > bird mites > > > > Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no > > > chimneys. Guest guest
You guys are absolutely tops !.... I should be wailing in my abyss, yet feel so encouraged by your 'cheerleading'...I sense an oppportunity as well, it is a sign,,,for a new beginning. I trott to my monthly parking garage a couple of blocks these days and grossed out by all those pigeons in this city, the litter at times, the pain to get to the car in and out, has padlocks..., infested and all.., the car that is..who knows the garage might as well too. Save, I so appreciate your practical suggestions, I thought along the same line. yes, the showers are small, there will be some cramping and stifling at first, however, if I stay at this resort, yes the call this ocean site one a RESORT, (..sit down! its california ! $ 1067 smackeroos...per month to park your RV) incl. all H20, electricity, WiFi, common pool, hot tub, shower facility, laundrymat., no parking garage monthly expenses like now though ....the rule is 7 months, then must re apply /re reserve and re appear within 48 hours...go figure Yeah, wireless card is a must, I may get that sauna, will do some serious contained TREATMENTS , I like the idea of self contained,,,,I like the idea of a secure area, at the ocean no less..., I like the idea of stepping out of my cabin and sit outside my camper or whatever it will be and feel free again,, watching the south forty, or the sunset,,,vs. the freaking moldy etc apartment with their shoddy management styles... RV...I contacted a few dealers and they are all over me via email and phone already like fly on rye..or mites on u and I.. I am mulling with the idea of letting go of that godforsaken Beemer, who knows maybe that thing was infested too when I bought in August the same year, last year, when the ceiling collapsed,,,which one was it...anyhow, letting that mess of a car go now in exchange for a super duper motor home, or or,,,,a compact Road trek....a fully loaded little home, ( a super pumped up van with all the comforts of home )but light enough for commute travel,,,then I am not sure, if I want to take 'my home' on the road on a every day workday basis....decisions, decisions.... I thank you so much for being with me on this, I would be totally lost and in despair otherwise, I will keep you posted, ok... I got my FG DE and Menthol crystals today.....NICE>>>>>> m From: savemyskin4me <savemyskin4me@...>Subject: Re: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your lifestylebird mites Date: Thursday, January 8, 2009, 9:59 PM Yeah, that small a space you could menthol the hell out of it whileyou were at work. You might even be able to take the rv with you towork....I don't know if you come across any roadside rest areas inyour 100 mile travels, but those are a option too.Another thought....remember the guy that was on this forum that tookhis car to the paint place and got it baked? I wonder if you coulddo that with a RV (if it was small)? Plus, you also have the optionto CO2 the RV as well....you already have the tank...you might as wellget good use out of it.So car baking, CO2 and Menthol....take out the carpet and cloth....take your clothes to the Laundromat (they have really hot dryers)..mobile wireless card for your internet.... rip the bed out of the RVand put in a Hammock (can put that sucker in the dryer!)That' s whythey use Hammock's in the tropics..to keep the crawling bugs away.Downsides... ..small shower and probably no tub.....limited hot water, and I think?? you can get them with a microwave.> > > > From: livingwithcritters <livingwithcritters @...>> > Subject: M--Now you get to find a place to fit your> lifestyle> > bird mites> > Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 7:35 PM> > > > > > > > > > > > > > Think universal design--open, simple, spacious, with a view, no> chimneys. Guest guest
$1067 for a parking space? Damn, you could buy that 3 level house (brand new)in the midwest for about that much per month. Did you see the news? Realtors are selling homes in Detroit and Cleveland for $500, $1,900 and $3000! Imagine never having to make a house or rent payment again. LOL, a disposable home, when it gets infested, move out and buy another one.
