Guest guest
Hello everybody, Sometimes I feel as if the only time I post anymore is when I have a problem with one of my twins! I'll try to be brief...we're having naptime issues. Tommy, my DOC grad (hooray!) STILL screams and tantrums every time I put him down for a nap, without his bottle. This has been going on for over a month now. He's 14 months old, and I don't have this issue with his twin, who just plays in his crib until he conks out. Tommy screams bloody murder every single time, refuses a pacifier (never liked them) and occasionally cracks his head against the side of his crib during his tantrums, which doesn't help, obviously. Could this be a preemie issue? They were 5 weeks early, and Tommy spent his first 10 days in a level III NICU. It just seems to me that after over a month of this he should be able to go to sleep without all this pathos. I would have asked his pediatrician about this, but she's out sick. This is very distressing for me...I had a nervous breakdown a couple of weeks ago and Tommy's upset is...well, upsetting me. And I have been consistent with the no-bottle during naptime policy, so it's not that. Has anyone had experience with this? Jill Ramos, Las Vegas, NV P.S. As for the breakdown, I am on a couple of different meds now and am doing fine with them...I'm just worried about Tommy. (So much for being brief!) Guest guest
Jill, I'm glad to hear the meds are working for you. My daughter is 14 months and also screams and fights when I put her down for a nap. Sometimes, she gets herself so worked up that I give in and get her. I guess I've identified her different cries - if she screams and screams I figure she isn't going to stop so we skip the nap. Other times, she screams but changes to a wimper after 5-10 minutes. Then, she does fall asleep. She never really had any set nap times. A lot of the time, we would let her fall asleep on us and then put her in the crib (I know this is bad). We can tell she's tired, but she fights it. I guess they don't want to miss anything. I don't know if this helps, but you're not alone with this problem.
