Guest guest
hey, why don't you just buy a plastic chair and bring it into work. be creative on what you tell them. i'm allergic to this and that or whatever, and just wipe your chair down before you leave at night, etc. put that other chair out of order, so no one will want it. just a thought.melFrom: J S <requireshelp@...>Subject: Re: Re: what can i use in the office that DOES NOT stink?bird mites Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 6:58 PM It is almost impossible to decontaminate a fabric chair that you use daily. Get a leather or plastic one and spray with windex daily. Also, use a high foot rest as to avoid putting your feet on the floor. Mites quickly crawl up your legs and onto your chair again. Floors in the workplace are hard to decontaminate discreetly. -requireshelp From: kihunrc <kihunshin (DOT) com>bird mitesSent: Tuesday, November 4, 2008 6:50:04 PMSubject: Re: what can i use in the office that DOES NOT stink? Myrtle, my chair and the empty chair next to me are definitely infested. I've thought of switching them out but my conscience woulnd't let me do that as I don't want other ppl sitting on them. I suppose I can somehow make the chairs useless and the janitors would dump them? I was thinking of spilling paint or something all over the fabric and of course pretend to not having anything to do with it. Guest guest
Mel, Myrtle, thanks for your suggestions about the chair. I've actually thought about bringing in my own plastic chair but I don't know how I can excuse my way out of it explaining to everyone in the room. I wish I had at least a cube but I'm in a big room w/ 12 other ppl that I've come to known well. My building does have security cameras and even a front lobby 24/7 security guard. There is no camera in my room so whatever I do in the room can be discreet. It will be quite hard to disassemble the chairs - they are of those bulky, big, upright office chair variety with spring loaded back recline and height adjusters, on caster wheels... you know them. I guess I should take my mini toolkit to work tomorrow and see what I can do. Even if I make progress at home and in the car, the workplace is an absolute nightmare right now. Sigh... > > > > > > > > Ki > > > > I am guessing this is not your home office but your work > office!? > > > > Just a thought, the epsome salt will dry white on the carpet > and > > > > will > > > > be very noticeable.. ..as well as hard to get out of the > carpet....if > > > > this is your home office thats not an issue....just thought I > would > > > > mention it though.....The orange guard sounds good though > > > > z > > > > > > > > > > > > > Instant message from any web browser! Guest guest
You can also use the diatomaceous earth on the carpet. You would need to sweep it in after sprinkling it on with a sock. You can even do this with your foot, but a broom would be better. > > > > > > > > > > > > Ki > > > > > > I am guessing this is not your home office but your work > > > office!? > > > > > > Just a thought, the epsome salt will dry white on the carpet > > > and > > > > > > > > will > > > > > > be very noticeable.. ..as well as hard to get out of the > > > carpet....if > > > > > > this is your home office thats not an issue....just thought > > I > > > would > > > > > > mention it though.....The orange guard sounds good though > > > > > > z > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Instant message from any web browser! Guest guest
I did that at my last job. I sat in a chair with no paddin, one of the cafeteria chairs. Everyone thought I was off but I didn't care. I said it got me closer to the computer. lou From: J S <requireshelp>Subject: Re: Re: what can i use in the office that DOES NOT stink?bird mitesDate: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 6:58 PM It is almost impossible to decontaminate a fabric chair that you use daily. Guest guest
Maybe one of those hard plastic floor mats used under desk chairs would also help? So easy to wipe or spray down. Here's hoping the concentrated Orange Plus will work for you! Best wishes, Sue Ki I am guessing this is not your home office but your work office!? Just a thought, the epsome salt will dry white on the carpet and will be very noticeable.. ..as well as hard to get out of the carpet....if this is your home office thats not an issue....just thought I would mention it though.....The orange guard sounds good though z
Guest guest
I should have done that a long time ago. I only use plastic chairs at home. I'm at a point where I couldn't care less what anyone thinks. And now that I think about it, I had to dump 3 chairs at work, one of which was an " extra " office chair that I swapped out for my bug infested chair, and I infested both of them, then infested the replacement chair. I'm doing okay now, though, sitting on my piece of hard foam, with a thick sheet of painters plastic over the seat. Some people probably figure I'm incontinent... myrtle > > > > > > > > Ki > > > > I am guessing this is not your home office but your work > office!? > > > > Just a thought, the epsome salt will dry white on the carpet > and > > > > will > > > > be very noticeable.. ..as well as hard to get out of the > carpet....if > > > > this is your home office thats not an issue....just thought I > would > > > > mention it though.....The orange guard sounds good though > > > > z > > > > > > > > > > > > > Instant message from any web browser! Guest guest
If your boss is understanding and won't think you're crazy or fire you, maybe you can explain your true situation, and why you want to dump the infested chairs and replace them with plastic. Preventing others from getting infested is a good idea. myrtle > > > > > > > > > > Ki > > > > > I am guessing this is not your home office but your work > > office!? > > > > > Just a thought, the epsome salt will dry white on the carpet > > and > > > > > > will > > > > > be very noticeable.. ..as well as hard to get out of the > > carpet....if > > > > > this is your home office thats not an issue....just thought > I > > would > > > > > mention it though.....The orange guard sounds good though > > > > > z > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Instant message from any web browser! Guest guest
My work chair is fabric and I just spray it with bifithrin once a week and I am fine. I will still have to do that for a while after this seems over, but eventually they will be gone. Not getting bitten at work any more. They can't lay eggs with out food. The plastic chair idea is good though. I don't think I could do that at my work.J.From: kihunrc <kihunshin@...>Subject: Re: what can i use in the office that DOES NOT stink?bird mites Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 3:50 PM Myrtle, my chair and the empty chair next to me are definitely infested.
