Guest guest
's Daily Message MondayOctober 23, 2006TICK TOCK Tick tock, tick tock. The October clock is ticking away. In 8 days, the month of October will be over! Tick tock. And how have you treated yourself this month? I hope you haven`t forgotten about the 5 Pounds a Month Challenge! How can you? I`m always here to remind you! In the last 23 days, how has your attitude been? Out of 23 days, how many days did you exercise? Tick tock…. And what was your eating like this month? Did you stay within your caloric and fat gram budget? Did you cook the majority of your meals at home? How many pounds have you taken off so far this month? Tick tock…. Eight days left. How can you absolutely, positively lose weight the next 8 days? By eating a salad every night for dinner! You have to invest some time in slicing and chopping, but in the long run, you`ll be happy with the scale before we experience November! Gather up your favorite salad ingredients and grab a box of baggies. Yesterday, I made a salad bar in my fridge, and today, you`ll learn how to make one, too! Here`s what I put in my baggies. Four carrots, shredded; 2 cucumbers, sliced; 3 tomatoes, chopped; 3 stalks of celery, sliced; 1 can of sliced water chestnuts; 2 bell peppers, chopped; and 1 can of garbanzo beans, drained. Within 35 minutes, I had 7 baggies, each one holding 1 of my favorite salad fixings! Today I will take out a head of Romaine lettuce and a head of purple cabbage, cut off a bit of each, and chop them up. That will be the foundation of my salad, calorie free! Then I`ll get my baggies out and put a handful of each of the vegetables in the bowl. Then I`ll add 3 ounces of protein, like chicken, tuna, or low fat cheddar cheese. I`ll mix the salad with olive oil and some sort of vinegar like red wine, white wine, sherry or rice vinegar. And on the top, I`ll put a tablespoon of chopped pecans, walnuts, or almonds. Make a salad bar in your fridge! Cut up the veggies that you like, and eat a salad for dinner every night. Then you will have no tricks on the 31st! Just the treat of a healthy, nutritious salad that will fill you up and satisfy your taste buds! Tick tock…. Love,
