WHY BOTHER?

I`m gonna tell you a story that I`ve never told you before, but I need to

share it with you today. Maybe you went through the same thing way back

when, and maybe you`re going through it right now!

When I was about 10, I went to the magazine store a few blocks from my house

to get my mother the new " True Confessions. " When I was there, I saw a

magazine called " Mr. Physique. " It had a man on the cover in a bathing suit,

flexing his muscles, and at his feet were 2 beautiful, blond girls in

bathing suits looking up at him in adoration. I bought that magazine, too!

When I got home, I looked through Mr. Physique, and it was filled with very

handsome men with bodies that looked like they were carved out of Carrera

marble! I stood up and did some of the poses in front of the mirror, and it

was a pitiful sight to see what I looked like! Every time I would even think

of trying to lose weight, I would get out that magazine and feel defeated.

" No matter how much weight I lose, I will never look like these guys. "

Maybe that was one of the reasons it took me so long to finally lose the

weight and love myself along the way. I had that " why bother? " attitude, and

it got to me all the time. Then one day on my journey, I looked at myself in

the mirror, and I said, " No, you`re not gonna be 6 feet 2, and no, you`re

not gonna look like Michelangelo`s " " – maybe the hair, LOL – but you

look good! "

That day, I decided I was going to stop comparing myself to other guys and

just be the guy I am! Of course, sometimes I would like to wake up with

Clooney`s face on my neck! I`m really happy with the looks God gave

me, and you should be happy with what God gave you, too! I`ve told you this

before: you are a unique individual, and you should take pride in that!
