Guest guest
's Daily Message Thursday September 21, 2006 BORED Some of you are telling me you are bored, bored, bored with the way you are eating! I would say you`re in a food rut, and I say, let`s change it! Are you having the same breakfast over and over again? I never do! Why should you? Instead of regular toast, try 1/2 of a ' English Muffin or a bolder bread like 7-grain. Instead of putting " I Can`t Believe It`s Not Butter " on top, spread a Laughing Cow light cheese on the top with sliced cherry tomatoes. Make French toast with Egg Beaters and Jamaican vanilla. How about an Egg Beaters omelet with onions, tarragon, and French white pepper? And lunch can be the same old sandwich or salad you`ve been eating for too long a time. Put your creative hat on, and let`s go to work! Make a list of all the ingredients you can put on salads that you like – kidney beans, garbanzo beans, corn kernels, bell peppers, celery, onions, " cucs " , and make a list of ingredients that you haven`t tried in a salad before, like Daikon radish, white turnips, string beans, asparagus, water chestnuts, and bamboo shoots. Every week, design different salads that include one new veggie. Or bring a container of homemade soup or some pasta with vegetables that you had last night for dinner. And speaking of dinners, are they dull? Is that grilled piece of chicken looking up at you and saying, " Help! " If you`re a member of the Clubhouse, you`re able to get hundreds of recipes that I designed, and many of them are for dinner. What protein do you want – turkey, lamb, pork, shrimp, or scallops? What starch do you want – rice, pasta, potatoes? What veggies, fat, and dairy will you have? Sometimes I just grab a few items in the fridge or freezer and come up with something tasty. There are some herbs and spices that you can get fresh, and others, you have to buy bottled and dried. The next time you`re at the supermarket, go over to the spice rack and pick out a few spices to try. Have you had Beau Monde seasoning or ground coriander? You will be amazed at what a pinch of these dry herbs will do for your marinara sauce, rice pilaf, or any other dish you create. Shake up your meals! Make them healthy! Eat them in the right portion, and see the fun you will have eating delicious foods and losing those unwanted pounds! Love,
