I really want this and I did great last week but boy today I am so sad over the gain. With eating out 4x this weekend, that's probably the *why* behind the gain.... sodium, something. Restaurants are bigger portions, so if you say you did good with the portions, I would guess salt, calories, etc. Maybe do like Sue and not weigh until mid-week so you don't go crazy on Sat/Sun/Mon seeing a "gain" that will truly work itsself out. Guest guest
My week was great BUT again I sabotaged myself this weekend I don't know why I go nuts. We ate out 4 times this weekend. Although I did great with portions I still gained about 3 pounds. Yikes! Back to the drawing board. Glad to hear you survived the party and the dance. I know it is tough. My oldest will be 17 next month and my other son is 14. I really need to look at my weekends and find out why I am determined to sabotage myself. Guest guest
So glad you had a good week. I'm jumping for joy at the news of your friend having feelings for you. You ARE great and DESERVE to be loved. Bask in that glow. I can't help but think my husband fell in love with thin (134) and if he met me now would he still have? I probably wouldn't have even had the courage to go out with him at this weight. Good that you are being nice to yourself, that is something I struggle with on a daily basis. Good job on the weight loss. Blessed be,

Guest guest
> I lost 5lbs so far this week, which brings my total to 17lbs lost > since mid august. yay. Wow! This is a lot of weight for one week! Are you sure you're eating enough calories for your current weight? If you eat too little you won't be getting the nutrition you need to maintain good health and you'll also wind up in starvation mode and stop losing as your body's metabolism slows to accomodate this small amount of calories. Use this chart from as a general guide to how many calories you should be eating to maintain a 2-3 pound loss per week. Anything more than that is too much too soon. Foods eaten out at restaurants and fast food joints are usually overly salted, so most of this gain is probably water weight. > I really need to look at my weekends and find out why I am determined to sabotage myself. But you said you ate fine - you did *not* sabotage yourself! About the only thing you could have done differently is to not eat out but stay home for all your meals, and if you're used to going out a lot you probably don't want to do that. Just try to make better choices (Foods that naturally have less salt, even hidden salts like in the coating for those fish cakes) and be sure to drink tons of water afterwards to flush it all out of your system before your next weigh-in. I now that one meal of spaghetti with a non salt-free sauce is good for a 3-5 pound gain on the scale because of the salt. I can have the same amount of spaghetti with the salt-free sauce and show no gain, maybe even a loss the next day. Sue in NJ

Anything more than that is too much too soon. LOL I am glad I don't count calories - but if I did, I would be right about where says "I should be" - I should be on the 2000 card. And, when I go to spark people and the nutritionist, they say the same range, as well as Curves: 1700-2000 for my current needs.... New first for me today: I saved my apple from lunch for after Curves and ate it while I was walking home - it helped keep me from wanting to eat the plates and bowls while fixing dinner - but I had preplanned my menu for a change, so it didn't take much to throw together the salad and spaghetti and bread - yum! And, score 1 for Miss for Monday - wooohoooo!! p.s. don't let the fact that I am not "counting" calories mean I go on an eating fest each day - I am very mindful of what I put in my mouth and try to make health(ier) choices - also exercise. Interesting MOTD today about exercise 7x a week. I was thinking that at Curves tonight that I might try to increase to 4-5x and just focus on the cardio on the "off" days vs the machines.... I'll let ya know week-end if that goes for me....

I can clearly and distinctly say "I HATE COOKING".... so, for now, it's probably a good thing that I don't live near my b/f as he does eat out the majority of his meals. Being single, he doesn't cook a lot - some, just not a lot. When he tells me where he goes, etc I get jealous - but, it does give me something to look forward to our visits, too... Guest guest
> p.s. don't let the fact that I am not " counting " calories mean I go on an > eating fest each day Many people tend to go crazy and obsessive if they count calories. I know - I'm one of them! I had to do it for 2 months this summer for the doc to prove I needed the thyroid meds (And he wants me to continue it now - ain't gonna happen doc!) and I felt I was back in kindergarten. All my childhood I was on 1000 - 1200 calorie diets and it was my part to weigh & measure and keep tally every day. If I had only 250 calories left and still had dinner to go, well, my mom would only give me 250 calories worth of food, even if it meant I got half a small plain burger patty, a half cup of mashed potatoes, and some over-cooked canned vegetables. Had to have that glass of whole milk, no matter what, and all other foods took a back seat to it. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
I love to cook and I love to eat out. Let's face it I just love to eat I probably wouldn't be in this position. I'm a Foodie. I need to come to grips with the fact I can't eat the stuff I want to in the quantites I want to. BUT I can have anything as long as it's in moderation. Guest guest
Yep, That's it. Actually there are two mentions of it: 1. I Cor 6:12 " Everything is permissible for me " —but not everything is beneficial. " Everything is permissible for me " —but I will not be mastered by anything. 2. I Cor. 10:33 " Everything is permissible " —but not everything is beneficial. " Everything is permissible " —but not everything is constructive. Interesting but until pressed to go to my concordance www.biblegateway.com, I wasn't aware of these very two similar references with their similar but different endings. Not be mastered by anything vs not everything is constructive. For me what is worked in the past is listening to the inside (God's promptings, my body) to determine my choices and/or amounts. > > > In a message dated 10/3/2006 11:39:59 PM Pacific Standard Time, > ib_domesticdiva@... writes: > > > BUT I can have anything as long as it's in moderation. > > > > > Yes: " all things are permissible, just not beneficial " (( isn't that how > they say it, ?? )) -- it's a Bible verse, I know that much... > > >
