I know many of you have a certain amount of money to spend a month for food, and I wonder what you buy with your dough. Do you buy food or items that are sort of food? Let`s chat about the items that are sort of foods first. We still adore treats from our childhood. Even though we are not children anymore, we still fall into eating like a child!

Let`s start with sodas, shall we? Who doesn`t love an ice cold sugar rush, but at what cost? You can also get your sweet kick in other aisles of your supermarket. Do you still take a stroll down candy lane, or do you wheel yourself to the baked goods area to find cookies like your Grandma baked?

Those have your sweet tooth covered, but what about your salty tooth? When I was a kid growing up, there were 2 kinds of chips: plain and barbecue. Not anymore! Where have all those bags of chips come from? Many are imported from all over the world! There are several varieties of Doritos, Cheetos, and all sorts of crunchy, salty… snacks! Think twice or three times before you put these sorts of foods in your cart.

Spend your hard earned money on foods that are real and will be beneficial to your good health! Only buy the best choices from all the food groups. At the meat counter, get whole chickens to roast and salmon or halibut to grill. Buy strips of turkey and chicken breasts for your casseroles and wok dishes.

The next place to head is to the produce section. Decide what fruits you will eat each day – cantaloupes, strawberries, kiwis, bananas, or peaches that are oh, so sweet! And what veggies will you commit to? Spinach, broccoli, zucchini, asparagus, bok choy, and snow peas?

What grains should you be feeding your tummy? Brown rice, whole wheat products, and of course, don`t forget your oatmeal!

Pick dairy products that are high in calcium and fat free.

Choose your fats carefully – olive oil, avocadoes, and while you`re picking up an avocado, get your salad ingredients you need to have a fantastic salad once a day!

Eat wiser, spend your money wiser, and you`ll have health, which is the wisest thing you can have!
