I`m spoiled, and I know it. My mother spoiled me, I spoiled me, and many of you spoil me. And when you are spoiled, sometimes you lose touch with reality, and that`s not a very good thing. When you are spoiled, sometimes you take for granted all the gifts God sent your way – the gifts of thinking, walking and talking, laughing and jumping, and… seeing.

I got an email from one of my Clubhouse members that read:

Dear ,

I am feeling a bit hopeless right now. I lost my job after Hurricane Katrina and have not been able to get a new job as yet. I feel like a hermit. You see, I am legally blind, so I don`t drive. Otherwise, I would get out more. I made some nice friends in the Clubhouse.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Michele on my radio show, "Lighten Up" on Sirius Satellite Radio. She told me at the age of 26, she began to see everything very fuzzy. She went to the doctor, and he had very bad news for her. She was losing her sight. Now at 38, she is legally blind and only has peripheral vision.

I don`t know how I would have reacted to this news. Do you? Well, Michele accepted it, for she knew she had so many other gifts. "If you saw me, you wouldn`t think I was a blind lady. I function very well." Talking to Michele was like talking to an angel! Her voice had light and hope in it. Her words smiled, and everyone in the audience that day had such peaceful looks on their faces.

First Michele came to me in the form of an email. Then she came to me via the telephone, and on October 6, 7, and 8, Michele will be attending my weekend workout at Slimmons! I can`t wait to meet her in person! Michele has started using the FoodMover and is taking her walks and learning some of the movements from my videos. Everyone at the studio is anxious to meet you, Michele, and I can`t wait to dance with you!
