Guest guest
's Daily Message Saturday September 16, 2006 TOUGH from South Dakota has a wonderful life! She`s got a great job, a beautiful home, and lives just a few miles from her family, who she`s very close to. The only thing that was not wonderful was her weight and her health. has been battling her weight since she was 10 years old. At 33, she`s still fighting the urges to overeat anything in sight. At 319 pounds, has high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea. She takes 8 pills a day. Like so many of us, has promised everyone that she will lose the weight and get healthy, but the promises always seem to evaporate in a very short time. In May of this year, was having chest pains and breathing problems. She called 911, and in minutes was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. After many tests, they found that had a mild heart attack. With that news, she vowed to everyone that this time, she was serious. For 6 weeks, watched her portions and walked on her treadmill every day and lost 18 pounds! She called everyone to tell them her good news. Well, the good news didn`t last long, and swayed again, and quickly put on the 18 pounds plus more. When anyone asked about her weight loss, told everyone she was doing fine. Last Wednesday, `s mom and dad invited her over for dinner. Little did she know that along with dinner came an intervention. When walked in the living room, there seated were her parents, her two brothers, and two sisters. They one by one talked to about her weight, her medical conditions, her promises, and her failures. They were tough on her, and cried the whole time. Her father ended the evening by saying, " We have to be tough on you, because we love you. " I talked with yesterday, and she was still a mess. I told her that tough love works for some, but not for all. I told her her family loves her so much, they would do anything to get her started again, even being rather tough on her. understood and told me she was seeing her family this weekend, and she would tell them how much she loved and appreciated them all. TL never worked for me, but TLC did, and that`s what I try to spread. Love,
