Guest guest
's Daily Message Monday August 28, 2006 GOING HOME Yesterday after the radio show, I went home and made some stuffed pasta shells with ground turkey, ricotta cheese, and spinach. After having some for dinner, I went upstairs to get my luggage. Oh, Hattie and Dolly hate when the luggage comes out, and when I open the suitcase, they both curl up in it. So cute! I`m headed to my birth place, New Orleans. I haven`t seen my brother and sister-in-law in ages, it seems. I`m going to New Orleans because tomorrow is the first anniversary of Katrina. I don`t really like using the word " anniversary " for this occasion. I just need to be there and see for myself what improvements have or have not been made. I remember being there a week after Katrina hit for " Entertainment Tonight. " I have to tell you, I still have nightmares about all that I saw – bodies in the water, people on crowded boats sailing down a river that used to be streets, children on rooftops with signs, and there was the smell and the smoke and all the misery around you everywhere you looked. Now I`m going back, and I`ll tell you what`s happening down there. I`ve been reading articles from the Times-Picayune Newspaper weekly to catch up on the aftermath of Katrina. Tonight I will take my brother and out to dinner at Arnaud`s. We will celebrate the fact that New Orleans is still here! Over dinner, Lenny will have more information to give me, so I`ll be ready for the interviews that I will do tonight and tomorrow. Tonight is Greta van Susteren, and tomorrow, I have a few more, including Neil Cavuto. Lenny wants to drive me by our old house. He wanted to take me there the last time I was in New Orleans, but I declined. Well, I`m not going to get myself upset now. Deep breaths, , deep breaths. I will write you tomorrow from my hotel room, where I will have a view of the Mississippi River! I know you have a lot of people to pray for, but I`m asking you today to take a few moments and say a prayer for all the people in Louisiana, Mississippi, and all the other areas that were hit by this devastating hurricane. I thank you in advance! Love,
