Guest guest
Hello to everyone. I'm so glad to come into the special "100-plus" room and just hear about others with the same struggles, opportunities and joyful, healthy news when things go right! I was thinking about my WW meeting and the leader. The leader lost about 35 lbs. I used to think, well, what does she know? She's never had a chair stuck to her butt when she stands up. She's not experienced a lot of the issues us big, beautiful ladies have. Her 35 pounds was just as much a struggle for her as my weight is for me. She's been in WW for 12 years, a leader for 11 and still has trigger foods, and foods she can't have in the house. Anyway, I had a terrible week in terms of plan, because I, uh, didn't have one. I had a gain the week before and I guess I had a bit of "what the hell" syndrome. I really considered using my "no Weigh-in" pass because I couldn't stand another gain. Turns out I was 2.2 lbs down! So I think some of it was the (salty) French onion soup I had less than 24 hours before my previous weigh-in. Anyway, after 8 weeks in program, I am 7.6 or 7.8 lbs down. I expect no one "from the outside" will notice until at least 30 lbs is gone, but that's OK. I'm not doing it for them. I'd like to be a total of 20 lbs down for MD checkup early November, and I think it's doable if I bump up my exercise. It seems that just a little really makes a difference! Today was kind of a grazing day. I went over to check Mom's computer and I ended up spending SIX HOURS there. Now, I'm married to a programmer/consultant so I have a free resource, and we did burn up the phone wires today, but eventually got her machine to work. It was frustrating, because she kept wanting to feed me and I was stressed because it took so long to fix a couple minor problems, and I'm a big emotional eater. I did do something productive, though. I bought a new lunch bag, one with insulated walls and a separate compartment for a rectangular dish (included) that can be used to microwave stuff. I will delay lunch at work simply because I don't know where to go or what to have. If I have already skipped breakfast (bad, longstanding habit) and I don't really eat until 1 or 2 pm, I've been up for 6 hours and I'm ready to chew the furniture (grin). I also bought some Smart Ones frozen entrees so for at least a couple days, I don't have to think about lunch. I just have to eat it. I hope everyone has a great week. I'm hoping to have mindful meals without too much grazing. Eileen in OR

Salt does it to me all the time, ever since I was a little kid (and I'm almost 53). If I don't stay far away form salty foods or if I don't take my water pill for various reasons (Like when I really have to leave the house for a few hours) I always gain a few pounds, like the 4 I gained this weekend. >Anyway, after 8 weeks in program, I am 7.6 or 7.8 lbs > down. Slow and steady - a good loss! >I expect no one " from the outside " will notice until at least 30 lbs > is gone, I lost 45 and nobody noticed - didn't even have more than an inch change in measurements. I wish I was the type of person who lost her appetite when things go wrong, but alas, food is comforting to me so it's the first thing I reach for, after my husband. > I did do something productive, though. If I ever needed a lunchbox again I would pick up this one: http://www.laptoplunches.com/ The lady who writes the Vegan Lunchbox (A year's worth of lunches she sent her son to school with) http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/ swears by them and shows how versitile they are. You do have to lose a good amount for people to actually see. >> I'd like to be a total of 20 lbs down for MD checkup early November, and I>> think it's doable if I bump up my exercise. I remember Ann mentioning > that some cities have 100-Plus meetings. They used to have 50+ meetings at some locations. Dunno if they do that any more. It used to really irritate me to have a 50+ meeting leader who hadn't lost 50 pounds. I think it's a completely different problem to be 100+ pounds overweight vs. 35. Just my opinion. and I went to meet the teacher night tonight. Several people said " you've lost a lot of weight! " It was kind of nice but embarrassing. It would have really chapped me if no one had noticed though! I've lost 79 pounds since the end of March thanks to surgery and the gym at work and being careful what I put in my mouth. I haven't seen any of these people since May so there's quite a bit of difference since then. 3X to 1X shirts and 24W to 16W pants. Gotta get to sleep. I don't think I'm ever going to get used to getting up at 5am. Blech. Ann
Guest guest
Eileen, congrats for getting a handle on the situation. Sounds like you have a plan now, and that always helps. When ever things get to hectic or I am struggling I too buy the pre-made frozen dinners. This keeps me from going for the comfort food, because I'm to tired to get up and make something healthy. The sodium in them really kills me, but it is better than a high fat alternative. Way to go I'm really proud for you. Patty > > Hello to everyone. Guest guest
Sue, Well, I am in a large metro area (Portland OR) and there might be something like that. I realize that my frustration with the leader having lost "only" 35 lbs is my problem, not hers. She's very sympathetic and of course she's mentored many people with much more to lose than her. We were all pretty emotional when a young woman, probably not more than 25, hit 100 lbs lost at a meeting about a month ago. Right now, this Saturday AM meeting fits my schedule. I don't have a car right now and was bussing to this one, until my sister joined me and now she drives. I think having a buddy is really helping even though we don't talk about it a lot during the week, just occasional comments in email once in a while. I never really connected with anyone in the meetings before; I'm rather shy by nature. This list is my true meeting (grin). While my plan was pretty sloppy over the weekend, it wasn't terrible. Yesterday, I think I did quite well. I had a peanut butter sandwich, banana and tea for breakfast at work. I got a large glass of water with my cup of tea, and I decided I couldn't refill the tea until I had drunk the water as well. I did that 3 times yesterday. I did forget the frozen entree for lunch but got a Chinese chicken salad and bottled water - NO DIET SODA !! I took grapes and raspberries for a snack and still have a lot of grapes left over for today. So, I feel pretty re-energized about the program. A pound a week, that's all I ask. I'm averaging just under that with 8 weeks in program, and not even trying that hard. So a little more effort ought to get me there. The heat has broken here, and it's actually chilly at night, so we're sleeping better. Right now, I got no complaints.... Eileen in OR I'm not a WW person, but many here are. I remember Ann mentioning thatsome cities have 100-Plus meetings. Maybe you can check the schedule in yourarea and see if they have something like that. I've lost 18 pounds and have kept it off for 5 years " . Yeah, AND...? 18 pounds is a drop in the bucket for me. But I understand now. Not 100% sympathetic, if I'm being entirely honest, but I'm working on it > Anyway, I had a terrible week in terms of plan, because I, uh, didn't have > one. I had a gain the week before and I guess I had a bit of " what the hell " > syndrome. Yeah, I'm coming off a week like that myself. *sigh* " What the hell " syndrom is usually what destroys my attempts to lose weight. This time, though, I'm back on > Anyway, after 8 weeks in program, I am 7.6 or 7.8 lbs > down. I expect no one " from the outside " will notice until at least 30 lbs > is gone, but that's OK. I'm not doing it for them. Great job! I'm so happy for you Just think, at 1 pound per week, in a year you'll be down 50 pounds! And your mindset is fantastic, too, that it's not for anyone else, but for you. You oughtta be really proud of yourself > I hope everyone has a great week.
