DEATH WISH

Yesterday I spent quite a few hours calling people and listening to their stories of sadness and despair. I talked to a gentleman in Florida who weighs 600 pounds. He lives with his mother and father, who are now in their 70`s. This is a time in their lives where someone should be taking care of them, and here they are, doing everything for their housebound 40-year-old son. I asked him if he was tired of weighing 600 pounds, and he said yes. I asked him what he had to eat yesterday, and he told me ham and cheese empanadas, and meat and rice and beans that his mother cooks for him. I asked him if he had a death wish.

I talked with a lady in Alabama who is only 26 years old and weighs over 500 pounds. She helped raise her 17-year-old niece and 2-year old little boy. She told me she watched me on TV talking with people who had lost a lot of weight on my program. She told me she cried hearing their stories. I asked her if she was tired of weighing 500 pounds, and she said yes. I asked her if she drank soda and if the soda was a particular brand. She said yes, but would not tell me how many 16-ounce bottles she drank a day, but I already knew it was many. I told her she had to stop drinking all that caffeine, sugar, and salt. She told me that would be very hard for her to do. I asked her if she had a death wish.

Then there was a guy from Nebraska who weighed between 350-400 pounds. He smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and is borderline diabetic. In the last 2 years, he has put on 150 pounds. He lives on fast food for the majority of his meals. He`s happily married, and he has a beautiful little 2-year-old daughter. I asked him if he had a death wish.

All the people I asked that question to said no, but I just have to wonder. If you are not eating healthy, if you are not moving around very much, if your mind is always filled with self-doubt, then you are slowly killing yourself. Sounds like a death wish to me!

I don`t want you to die, and I don`t want you to even think of dying. I want you to live and live a wonderful and prosperous life! What do you want?

Love,
