AND JUST RELAX

Exactly what is relaxation?

" It is separating yourself from your routine and daily stressors to allow

your spirit, soul, and body to refresh, heal, and regain a sense of

centeredness. "

" It`s doing this for the sheer joy of it and not doing anything and letting

yourself feel happy in the moment with no worries. "

" It`s the release of tension in your body and mind and finding a peaceful

calm place in your soul. "

" Relaxation is clearing your mind of the day to day issues of life, not

doing any chores, and getting in touch with the core of who you are. "

" It`s going far, far away from it all and unwinding from it all. "

That`s what some of my students said at my last Project Me meeting. And how

did they relax?

" I put on my headphones and go walking with my iPod. I get lost in the music

and think about nothing at all. "

" I sneak away for a few hours in the afternoon one day a week, and I go to

see a movie. I also play with my kitties. That clears my mind of other

things while I focus on them and their needs instead of mine. "

" I take a lovely hot bath complete with bubbles and candles. "

" I go for a bike ride because it relaxes me mentally. It makes me feel like

I am 10 years old. "

And a sweet lady that comes to Slimmons simply put down, " I cuddle with my

husband. "

There were quite a few in class who admitted, " I don`t relax. " Let me ask

you, do you relax? You`d better, or you`ll just blow up because of all your

inner pressures! You`ve got to take time out of your busy schedule and chill

a bit!

Here`s how I relax. I lie across the bed with a cool towel across my

forehead. I inhale fresh air in my nose and exhale the air in my lungs. I do

this slowly as I close my eyes and lie there very still. I then run the

projector in my mind and watch the peaceful moments of my life and nothing

else. When I get up after about 10 or 15 minutes, I feel inner contentment.

Shut the world out today for a while and just relax!
