STARLIGHT, STAR BRIGHT

I have been enjoying my hot Sunday summer evenings, thanks to a birthday

present I received from one of my students at Slimmons. It was a book about

the stars! It`s been ages since I owned a treasure like this. The book was

written for children to understand all the stars that hang in the sky. Last

night, I took pillows and blankets outside on my balcony, and the dogs and I

did some star staring. The girls listened as I read from the pages.

This whole thing was sort of a Déjà vu. I remember when my brother and I

were very young, my father took us outside on a hot summer night. He brought

blankets and pillows out and a book about the stars. He would read to us and

show us pictures of famous stars you don`t see in the movies. " Here`s the

Big Dipper and the Little Dipper. There`s Orion and the North Star. "

Then we all lay down to see if we could find the stars that Dad showed us in

the book. Dad would say, " The stars up there are shining for you to make all

your wishes come true! Both of you find a star and make a wish, and I`ll do

the same. " Immediately one sparkling one caught my eye, and that`s the star

I wished on, and under the stars, the three of us fell asleep. Mickey, our

mutt of a dog, fell asleep in my father`s arms.

Last night, I thought about that special memory while I lay there with my

spotted babies. And I looked up at the stars and found one to wish on. After

a stressful and busy day, there is no better way to wind down than to find a

piece of the sky, and there as you stare, your mind releases all of its

thoughts and just floats in a blue velvet sky thinking of absolutely

nothing.

Today is the beginning of a new week and a new sky filled with stars that

are winking at you. I hope to see all of you Club members tonight for our

live chat in the fitness room. Begin the week with a plan, and this week,

stick to it!

Love,
