Well, I lost the little bit of gain from last week and a little bit more, so I'm happy. After a month on WW, I'm down 5.6 lbs total.

There was a young woman at the meeting today who made the 100-pound mark, and it was pretty emotional, not just for her but for the rest of us, too. Her fiance was with her, holding her hand and obviously proud of her accomplishment. She said she just took it one day at a time, one meal at a time. She gives herself one day a week to "eat what I want" but says that after a while, "what I want" is still stuff on Program.

For the next several days, the two main issues here will be hydration (it was 104 here yesterday and we don't have A/C) and recovering from a bladder infection. Both of these require the same thing - lots of water.

Things I'm grateful for this week:

responsible husband who is doing what he can to cool the house down

supportive environment on this list with people that "get" how hard this can be

we have an icemaker in the fridge

my sister who has lots less to lose but has signed up and is attending meetings with me

What are you grateful for?

Congrats on the 5.6 pounds. Good for you.

I think I should so what that woman in your meeting does eat what I want once a week. That seems like a good trade for hard work.

I am grateful for :

My husband and kids

The thing, once you really commit to doing the "right" thing, then some of those "bad" things (I know, in WW, nothing is "forbidden") eventually lose their appeal.

I found that when I was eating well (meaning healthy), my cravings for the junk really dropped off. It wasn't hard to give them up because I really didn't want them.

If I stay with it long enough this time to see some genuine results, not just on the scale, but clothing, energy level, etc. the stuff will become even more onerous because I won't want to undo the huge progress I will have made at that time.

5. Lastly I am grateful that a) the fire alarm does work in the new apt and B) that the greasefire at the other end of my building was quickly brought under contraol last night and we were only misquito bait for about 20 minutes in the chilly night air.

LOL , I am glad all worked out well... there were two HUGE fires here today - I am sure related to the heat and tonight it looks like it's clouding over.... we could be in for some awesome thunder/lightening stuff....

you're doing great! I bet that was inseprational! Things that I'm grateful for this week - in random order

1. The tree that landed on my balcony on Monday only mangled my plants / flowers, not breaking the slider or damaging my balcony.

2. That we have a/c for the first time in 18 years - and with the heatwave here - I'm very greatful and spoiled already LOL

3. God, the family, the job, and a roof over my head.

4. That my sister and her family arrived safely last night from SC - though I have yet to see them.

5. Lastly I am grateful that a) the fire alarm does work in the new apt and B) that the greasefire at the other end of my building was quickly brought under contraol last night and we were only misquito bait for about 20 minutes in the chilly night air.

I am grateful for my children that are grateful for me (two youngest 10, 12)... they live with their father and he's been pretty sick, so I went there yesterday to do some dishes and laundry, fixed dinner while I was there and they said "thanks for fixing dinner for us mom"..... ahhhhhhh

OK, I am also grateful for a/c that doesn't work so well (LOL it would, if my 14 yr old that lives with me would leave the door CLOSED)

My frige that keeps water etc cold and I can keep ice cycling (wishes for an ice maker)
