Thanks for sharing the spark people site... even though I don't count calories, it was cool to go in and see where I was at today exercise-wise....

I burned 1212 calories today with all my exercise.... ok, so this got me wondering how many calories I put IN today.... so I was there, logged my food for the day... LOL... the total was 1815... which, according to spark, I should be between 1940-2290 calories a day...

So my question is this: what does that mean to me or someone that *is* counting calories? I know I have seen with WW that if they exercise, they "earn" more points for the day...

Does this mean that I was in the negative today? I have heard that you burn a certain number of calories just existing each day...

Thanks for the nutrition lesson pending LOL!! Anyway, I don't feel like I am starving to death or super hungry or anything, I just wondered how this all does come out in the wash....

I don't know what you are doing to burn 1212 calories in a day. I would be dead on the floor burning that much.LOL

No, it was my walking, swimming and going to Curves... I put it into Spark and that's what it said and I didn't tell it I was doing laps or anything, just treading water for 45 minutes LOL... the walking was huge... Curves only burns 300 roughly LOL!! That is definately not the norm for me....

But your explanation made a lot of sense. I will go to Calorie King and look at my basal metabolic whatever it is called... ;-)

this is a suggestion for anyone wanting to control your intake/calories,

for 1 week write down all you eat with calories ( use spark, fitday, anything)

if your not loosing weight then simply subtract 500 calories from what you eat,

That's a good idea . Thanks, you gals are great. I think I already commented that I am going to be super uber religious about writing it all down for a couple of weeks and talking with my nutritionist again - it's been almost a year since I have seen her. And, since I have love *almost* 30 lbs, maybe she would want to tweak the calories for me... she did great pointing me in the right direction last time.

THANKS,

the way Calorie king does it is they figure how many calories you need for daily living(breathing, heart pumping etc.) and then subtract what you need for a safe weight loss. For example I need 1542 calories. ok so I will keep up with my calories. Now I will lose weight if I do nothing but stick to this 1542 calories. But that is a low amount and it sure would be easier if I had more calories to eat:) Thats where exercise comes in at. If I exercised on my bike for 30 minutes and burned 145 calories then that is added to my daily calorie limit. 1542+145=1687. Or if i'm having a good day and burn 290 calories by doing 1 hour on the bike then my calorie limit has gone up to 1832. So I have choices....No exercise and stay under 1542 calories or exercise for 30 minutes and have 1687 calories. I hope I have explained it good. I'm not sure how sparks people does it as I havent journaled there in a long time:( But there is a lot here that does maybe one of them can help you. I don't know what you are doing to burn 1212 calories in a day. I would be dead on the floor burning that much.LOL

they figured i needed between 1390 and 1640 cals ... way to low for me, so i changed it myself.. the cals are just a suggestion, but its true the more you work out the more you will need to eat as well as the more you weigh

just like WW me, mom,and hubby all went to the meetings, but i weigh more than they do and so i got more daily points cuz i am bigger and need more food to sustain my self..

this is a suggestion for anyone wanting to control your intake/calories,

for 1 week write down all you eat with calories ( use spark, fitday, anything)

if your not loosing weight then simply subtract 500 calories from what you eat,

i was averaging 3000 cals a day ( lots of fast food) so i am aiming to eat about 2000 cals a day but i wont fret if i am over ( like today i will be over by 100 cals b/c i just had a glass of milk) the main thing is to eat healthier foods

fruits

veggies

water

whole grains; brown rice, whole wheat pasta etc

fat free or low fat milk

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*just my opinion, im not a doctor. this is taken from my personal experince

I find for me they are right on the mark. If I truly stay around that total and don't cheat I do lose. But when I allow myself to go over I will either maintain or gain.

Yes, most places you go to will have you type in your present weight and your height and they will figure your totals from the info you input.

You're right. Keep up with what you are eating and it will show you when you don't lose as to where you missed up. Now if I can just follow this same advise and do it myself:)

I think that is what I miss the most. I used to be able to put the milk away. I could drink a gallon a day if I could afford it. I love milk but i think drinking that much would sorta pile on a few more pounds:) So I very seldom ever drink any other then at breakfast anymore.

im also 270 pounds, plus i think its about working it out for you not what someone else says

like " thin is in " i never wont to be " thin " healthy yea but not where my ribs are showing etc, i think there is a big difference bewtween healthy and being to thin... so my goal weight is 150 pounds my doctor wants me to be atleast 160 so im on target ( oh and im 5'6 with a large frame "
